Friday Flags: A Brisk Breeze for the Senior League in Watertown CTThe Golf course at Crestbrook Park is a very challenging test of abilities and one that I called my home course for almost 40 years.  As I prefer to walk when I play, I can't manage to do 18 and have changed locations. However, many of the people that I do know from the days there are also among those participating in the Senior League, which plays every Wednesday AM.A shotgun start with 88 players promptly at 8:30 AMThere are 2 divisions, A Div for players with a 9-hole handicap of less than 11 & a B Div for the higher handicap players. and I am in the A div and last year we competed for the league Championship and came up 1 shot short. This week, there was a brisk breeze so the flag offered directions and my photo-op.Wit...

There are several towns within the Greater Danbury area. They have offer their own character, advantages & possible disadvantages. Each has their own character, real estate options & real estate values. Typically, the further east you could go from Danbury,  further from New York, the newer single residential real estate is, but it isn't always the more affordable. You would also have to consider the school system, price of real estate, number of or lack of services, commuting options & time, expected property taxes and other factors to determine which town you feel is the best of your needs. -Danbury-Bethel-Brookfield-New Fairfield-New Milford-Redding-Ridgefield-Sherman-Newtown-SouthburyOther towns that I do cover include Sherman ,Woodbury ,Middlebury & Monroe, CT. Friday Flags: A Home Depot Flag That Wanted to be NoticedAs a homeowner, it is next to impossible to not go to a hardware store almost monthly. It may not be urgent but the convenience is without equal. An early spring day found me going to get the fertilizers I would need for the lawn and plants. Too early for the garden and flowers for the window boxes. The wind was blowing pretty strong as I entered, and I paused just a bit to get this shot.  I made my purchases and went to the car to unload and move on.  n the way to put the cart away, I took a look up and the flag was crying out to me to snap another one, which I did.Neither shot was bad, and in reality, this brand is pretty popular across the country. Friday Flags: A Home Depot Flag That Wanted to be Noticed

Friday Flags: A Good Night in Colchester, CTWe attended an awards night for the students at Bacon Academy, the high school that serves the 9-12 grades in Colchester, CT.Our grandson, Raphael was to receive some recognition, and when the evening was over, he was the recipient of 5 certificates of achievement. On the way-out f the school, I glanced at the flags near the entrance, and it was if they were calling out to me.Both the US flag, and the state of CT flag were in full wave.He had an exceptional year and passed his AP classes with high grades. He is working to be able to get grades that will allow him to pursue his college degree with minimum lending.Friday Flags: A Good Night in Colchester, CT

Memorial Day 2025 Remember Those That Paid the PriceWe watched the Memorial Day Concert last night on PBS It was emotional as they had set the show to have storylines given by award winning stars that presented the real-life accounts of heroes from WWll, Korea, Viet Nam and the Middle East.At the end of each presentation these people walked away from the podium to greet the heroes they had just honored. They used the phrase, Gold Star to recognize those that had fallen in battle.I was once told a story by my father, a WWll Navy veteran, who lived with an aunt in New Bedford, MA prior to enlisting in 1942.That aunt had 3 sons of her own each of which had enlisted in the service. Recognition was shown when families with sons in the war put starts in their windows to show that they cared.Th...

Today is 2025 Memorial Day In Middletown, CT.  Memorial Day is a day our Country has set aside to honor the fallen men and women who have served in our Armed Forces, and put their lives on the line to ensure the freedoms we have.Memorial Day has also become a time where families get together for picnics and family fun.  Some may even attend a local parades or participate in one.  Whatever you do today I hope a part of the day is spent on reflecting upon the meaning of this day, and those who we honor.  For my wife and I today will be a day of relaxing, and putting some ribs on the grill.  But for many today will involve traveling a fair distance to be with family and friends.  So my annual messages has become the one above, and hope today will be a day free of accidents and loss of live...

I Don't Remember That Pond in Waterbury CTWe have an above average wet spring, or at least it feels that way. We are a bit sun deprived and hope that it does find a way to break through the clouds before too long. For some of the wildlife, however things could not be better especially for the waterfowl. No waiting around when there is a freshwater pond to take a break. For sure the golfers will be considerate and not interrupt the water activities. They don't like to be in the water anyway as it costs then strokes and occasionally a lost ball. There could be a slight problem, for then, however, as they would not be expecting there to be water in this area.As they are more comfortable when the hole plays the way in normally does. Not normally a water hazard hole, but then again, we don't nor...

I am pleased to announce the sale of 14 Scuppo Road #B-5 Danbury CT. This property sold in April 2025.It's always special when you get to sell a client's house, but it's even more special when it's an old friend from high school that had the home in their family for many years before moving out of state. The property is 2 bedroom 1 bath two story unit. The unit had fresh paint, an updated bath, some hardwood floors, but was sold in-as is condition.  In-unit laundry and large attic.  We did receive a full price offer that was in accepted in about 1 week's time after about a dozen showings. There were some major twists and turns from when they first called me thinking of selling a few years ago. But when it became time to put the pen to the paper, I didn't want to disappoint them in a chan...

Friday Flags: A Wind Blowing to the West in WaterburyOur spring here in Connecticut has been completely out of the norm. We have gotten warm weather, then it drops back to low temps. We get a lot of rain and then we get another dose of snow.Weather patterns typically are from the west to the east as generated by the rotation of the earth, as the wind blows. So, it was a bit unusual for me to see the flag at the golf course blowing to California, but that was the case. There was also no waiting for the wind to pick up as it was blowing in that direction for most of the afternoon.Friday Flags: A Wind Blowing to the West in Waterbury

It is a special day anytime we get to honor our mother's and thank them for all they do.  My mother passed away 17 years ago, so I can no longer get to thank her personally for everything she did for me, but I do get to thank my wife tomorrow for everything she has done for me and our two sons.  This is a day she gets to be treated like the queen she is, and shown how special she is to us. Happy Mother's Day 2025to all Mother's, and I hope tomorrow is a very special day for every Mother everywhere.

Friday Flags If You Wait, it will Wave in Watertown CTWhile driving into Watertown, CT to meet someone at a condo complex, I noticed the flag at the entrance was less than furled. The limbs on the adjacent trees were moving slightly so I waited a few minutes to see if the flag would strut for me.The saying is that a watched pot never boils, and I was starting to believe that that would apply here as well.As I was thinking that I would have to return, the trees moved a lot, and then I looked up and that flag was speaking to me.Not only did it shine but the burst almost spoke to me as sorry to have made you wait so long.I got the shot, the meeting went well and then went on my way. Friday Flags: Big and Beautiful in Watertown CTI was heading into Watertown, CT on Wednesday morning. On a main road is a plant with a very large flag out front. It very seldom is fully furled, however this week, there was enough wind that I just had to stop. Most flag sizes are sized for the height of the pole. The pole that was supporting this banner had to be at last 40 ft tall, which would be appropriate for a flag,  8' x 12'It didn't matter as it ws just a beautiful sight to see. Friday Flags: Big and Beautiful in Watertown CT

For 2025 It's Starting to Look Like Spring in ConnecticutThey just can't help themselves as they have been waiting long enough for enough opportunity to just break out.As I looked out onto the front yard, I saw color and it wasn't just brown.Daffodils in white and yellow and some purple and white from hyacinths. The red maple tree has reddish tint and even the grass will start to show its true colors soon. They just can't help themselves, as they have waited long enough to show up.I can hardly wait even if it means cutting the grass. It's For 2025, It's Starting to Look Like Spring in Connecticut

Happy and Blessed Easter Sunday.  Today is a special day for my family and I.  It is a day we look forward to each year, however, this year will be different than in the past.  My wife and I will still start out the day by going to Church, and coming home after Church Services, and Bible Class for a special lunch/dinner.  But this year neither one of my two sons will be here to enjoy it with us.  My youngest son and his wife have relocated to Manassas, Virginia, also as many of you know my oldest son Matthew, his wife Ashley, and my gorgeous granddaughter Elizabeth are living in Bonney Lakes, WA.  So this year we have invited a special friend to have Easter lunch/dinner with us.  Then later this evening we will FaceTime with my oldest son Matthew, his wife Ashley, and my gorgeous grandd...
