The Colchester Fish & Game Club will hold its annual Clam Bake, Sat Aug 23 starting about noon at the club. There will be clam chowder, steamers, hamburgers and hot dogs all day. There will also be plenty of games including volleyball, horseshoes and activities for the kids. This picnic is open to the public-all are welcome. Dinner Will be served at about 5:30 pm and includes a choice of steak or lobster with boiled red potatoes, corn on the cob, salad and more. On Sunday Aug 17 from 3:30-6:30 pm the Ahavath Achim Synagogue on Lebanon Ave in Colchester, will hold a Chicken BBQ. This complete chicken dinner includes half a kosher chicken, a baked potato, cole slaw, a roll and dessert for $10. The BBQ chicken is prepared with the same "secret" marinade that has been used for the past 40 years. The public is welcome to either eat in the synagogue hall, pick up their dinners at the drive through (in the rear of the building) or have their dinner delivered. The Colchester Dental Group will particpate in the 17th Annual Steeple Chase Bike Tour, Saturday Aug 16. The tour will consist of four routes, ranging in length from 20 to 11 miles, through northeastern CT's "quiet Corner". Funds are being raised for Interfaith Ministry and Perception Programs, two local nonprofit social service groups in the Windham area. You can help the Dental Group meet its goal by sponsoring Babinski and his staff. Donations are appreciated.

The Bacon Academy Football team will host 2 "inside" Car washes, Sat July 26 from 8am-2pm at Colchester Chevrolet, 120 South Main St, Colchester, CT. Due to the recent water shortage in town, these fundraisers will feature interior car cleaning including vacuuming and window washing. Another car was will be held Aug 19, also at Colchester Chevrolet.

The 26th Annual Tri-County Baseball School will be held 9am-noon, from Monday July 7 through Friday July 11 at the Colchester recreational Complex off Old Hebron Rd. Directed by Bacon Academy baseball coach Dave Shea and former pro player John Shea, who specializes in pitches instruction. Colchester Parks and Recreation will again hold Friday Night Movies on the Town Green this summer. Free family movies will be show Fridays, July 11, Aug 1, Aug 8 and Aug 15, beginning at dark, approximately 9pm. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs. Remember, no alcohol is allowed on the Town Green. People can visit www.colcheterct.gov/parksand vote on the four movies they want to see. The votes will be tallied on June 20 and announced on the website.

Cragin Memorial Library, 8 Linwood Ave, Colchester, will sponsor a free program entitled "Why Homeopathy?" with Dr. Jose Mullen of Colchester on Monday, June 2 at 7pm in the library. Homeopathy, which has been used for over 200years, is a holistic system of treatment. Mullen graduated from medical school at the University of Buenos Aires and practiced general medicine until 1982 when he began practicing classical homeopathy. The Congregational Church of Salem will hold it's annual Tag, Rummage and Bake sale on Saturday, June 7 from 8:30am to 2pm on the Salem Town Green, Route 85, Salem. The sale will take place rain or shine and features our usual bargain clothing sale in the upstairs of the Christian Education building, and numerous large and small tag items in the lower level. Furniture and large items will be presented outside on the lawn. A bake sale will also be held outside on the church grounds.

The Friends of Cragin Memorial Library are offering postcards of historic sites ion Colchester for sale in the library, 8 Linwood Ave, Colchester, CT. Thanks to a gift from the collection of Joann Ridell, eight scenes from around Colchester, including the Town Green, Mintz's Farm, the original Bacon Academy and the Westchester Station, have been remade into color and sepia style postcards, available for $1 each. Proceeds from this fund raiser go directly towards library materials and programs. Library service hours are Monday through Thursday, 10am-9pm: and Friday and Saturday, 10am-4pm.

St. Andrew Church in Colchester will present its 10th Annual "Stars On Stage" Talent Show Saturday May 31 at 7pm in the St. Andrew Parish Hall, 128 Norwich Ave, Colchester, CT. Doors open at 6:30pm. This annual talent show features singers, instrumentalists, comedy, dance and a host of unusual acts.
