Connecticut’s Durham Fair is 94 Years Young! Connecticut’s crown jewel of agricultural fairs, The Durham Fair, turns 94 this year and shows no signs of slowing down! Founded in 1916, this is the largest agricultural fair held in Connecticut, and is also the largest fair in North America to operate without a paid manager or staff; all the workers are volunteers from various organizations, including schools, churches, and civic groups, as well as members of the Durham Agricultural Fair Association.   Festivities kick off on September 23rd at 4 PM, with a Demolition Derby scheduled for 7:30 that evening. Other planned activities include truck and tractor pulls, pie eating contests, kid’s races, various instructional events, and lots of livestock on display, plus some great live entertain...

DURHAM FARMER'S MARKET ON THE GREEN INDURHAM, CT Thursdays from 3:00pm to 6:00pm   For the last few years I've been going to the farmer's market in Durham CT.  The fresh produce and milk products (to include cheese) are out of this world.  I would highly recommended stopping by and sampling some of these products for yourself.  Here you can get raw milk at the Deerfield Farm booth... yes, raw milk.  I haven't had this since I was 8 years old.. my son thought it was cream, and devoured it. If you are looking for fresh (I mean just picked fresh) organic herbs, look no further, they are here too.   I'm going to try to stop by here after I work at the Third Congregational Church's Strawberry Festival.   Info about the author: Valerie Osterhoudt is a Cromwell Connecticut Residential Realtor ...

Connecticut Winters are cold and snowy, but it is the cold and snowy weather that can also make Connecticut winters fun.  When the temperature gets down in 20's and teens, our ponds, lakes and streams freeze up.  The ice that is formed is usually pretty thick and allows for great family fun like ice skating. As you can see from the two pictures taken of a little pond in Durham, Connecticut it is not only a fun family time here, it is a community activity.  Those of all ages young and old bundle up, strap on the skates and the little pond quickly comes alive. While some just enjoy skating, others are playing ice hokey.  But as you can see before you can do any of these things, everyone needs to pitch in and clear the ice of the layer of snow that is some times covers the top of the ic...

A painting contractor was speaking with a woman about her job.In the first room, she said she would like a pale blue. The contractor wrote this down and went to the window, opened it, and yelled out " green side up!"In the second room, she told the painter she would like it painted in a soft yellow. He wrote this on his pad, walked to the window, opened it, and yelled "green side up!"The lady was somewhat curious, but she said nothing. In the third room, she said she would like it painted a warm rose color. The painter wrote this down, walked to the window, opened it and yelled "green side up!"The lady then asked him, "Why do you keep yelling 'green side up'?""I'm sorry," came the reply. "But I have a crew of blondes laying sod across the street. ☺ MattToll Free: 888-NCFIXER (623-4937)Toll ...

A blonde quickly went out to her mail box, looked in it, closed the door of the box, and went back in the house. A few minutes later she repeated this process by checking her mail again. She did this five more times, and her neighbor that was watching her commented: "You must be expecting a very important letter today the way you keep looking into that mail box."The blonde answered, "No, I am working on my computer, and it keeps telling me that I have mail." ☺ MattToll Free: 888-NCFIXER (623-4937)Toll Free Fax: 888-FAX-4020 (329-4020)Local: 860-282-6181330 Roberts Street 4th FloorEast Hartford, CT 06108 credit repair company

As my luck would have it The Durham Fair was held this past weekend and the weather forecast for one of the most popular fairs in Connecticut was not looking good with a forecast of rain for the entire weekend.  My granddaughter's mom and stepdad work the fair circuit in Connecticut each weekend from the end of August to the middle of October and my husband and I get to spend every weekend they are working with our 6 year old granddaughter Brooke.  If the fair is not too far away I will pick a day (usually Sunday) to bring Brooke to the fair to see her mom and stepdad and of course to let her go the rides and play a variety of games.  The Durham Fair is one of my favorite fairs and I was not feeling too optimistic about our being able to go with the torrential rains we had on Friday and...
