Doctor Electric still makes house calls! Thank goodness for that, cuz I am a certified elecri-phobe! Really, it's true, Doctor Electric of New Milford, CT will make house calls for whatever ails the electrical systems in your home. Doctor Electric is a full service, fully licensed electrical contracting company serving most communities in Litchfield County and Northern Fairfield County in Connecticut . Doctor Electric is extremely reliable, has years of quality service backing their reputation. Doctor Electric is independently owned and operated by Michael Fairclough. I personally think Mike Fairclough IS Doctor Electric and he is committed to a highest level of customer service. Electrical stuff makes me cringe, I am an electri-phobe. It is still a buyers market in New Milford, CT. Listing your home for sale. This is a buyers market in New Milford, CT, no doubt about it. As a result it is imperative that your home be ready to sell. Before you sell you should be aware of what issues may prevent the sale of your home, or prevent you from getting the best price possible. You see your home one way, a buyer sees it in another light, and you can take that to the bank... (or not). With current market trends curb appeal is very important, clearing the clutter is mandatory and issues or potential issues should be addressed prior to placing your home on the market. Lenders are reading the disclosures and listings, they are also reading the inspectors reports. Have you done renovations yourself? Did you get the proper permits as...

New Milford CT 3 year real estate trends.  With the start of 2010 it is time to check the yearly market stats for New Milford, CT.  We continue to drop on the amount of homes sold, a very dramatic drop from 2007. The average sale price has also continued to drop over the 3 year period. Real estate is local, what news you hear about the market improving in one section of the country, while overall is great news, may not apply here YET. Factors such as job availability, unemployment rate, growth factors of each town, city and state have much to do with local markets. There is good news, we have ended 2009 with a bang, the amount of homes sold in December is up, I will be posting November and December market stats later on today.   What does all of this mean to you, the buyer and seller? B...

The Housatonic River, don't take it for granted! The Housatonic River winds its way through western Connecticut and beautiful Litchfield County from Pittsfield, MA. The main portion of the river runs 132 miles before emptying into Long Island Sound at Milford Point in CT. The Housatonic River feeds the largest lake in Connecticut, Candlewood Lake. The Rocky River Power Plant on Rt. 7 in New Milford is either bringing water down through the penstocks to make electricity, or pumping water up to the tune of  one million gallons of water every four minutes. Now that is pretty impressive! The Shepaug Dam created Lake Lillinonah in New Milford and Bridgewater, The Stevenson Dam in Monroe is responsible for Lake Zoar and the Derby Dam between Shelton and and Derby creates Lake Housatonic. The ...

Just Purchased, 171 Willow Springs New Milford CT 06776 Willow Springs Pristine Condition Ranch I had the privilege of helping a first time buyer purchase his first home in the Willow Springs community in New Milford,CT.  His 2 bedroom ranch style unit has been freshly painted, updated with newer appliances & windows, a master bedroom with a huge walk in closet, and tons of storage throughout the unit. The thing that my buyer likes most about this unit compared to some of the others that we have seen in complex is that the rolling lawn for the backyard & that his new home is set all the way back from the road.  The unit did not need any work at all, which is perfect for the new owner which works as a teacher in a local school system. The Willow Springs condo community is located in sout...

New Years Eve Traditions, got a good one? New Milford CT and Andrea celebrate the New Year! My husband has a few different traditions than I do. for one, New Years Eve is when Det Moroz delivers presents, not Christmas. I can go for the whole gift giving event again, I admit it! Over the years we have melded our traditions together and made a few changes as we ourselves change. We don't drink (ok, I might have a drink or 2 every once in a blue moon, but he doesn't drink at all) so that is not in the plan for New Years Eve. He loves to eat, and we usually prepare some of his favorite Russian foods. I make a mean Salad Olivier which is a cold pototo salad with meat in it, I use ham, and we always make carrot salad and beet salad, I beg him to make a deep fried meat pie called Beliashi tha...

A day with Santa in New Milford, CT. The cold didn't keep the kids away, they braved freezing temperatures to see the big man himself! A good time was had by all, despite the cold temps and blowing winds. After visiting with Santa Claus kids and adults alike piled into the hay wagon for a ride around the New Milford Village Green. The horses were spectacular this year, 2 beautiful (and playful) Percherons from Utopia Percherons in Goshen, CT. Thank you Bill and Brad Camp from Housatonic Valley Insurance on the Green, who joined Prudential Adams & Associates in sponsoring the event. Bill and his wife handed out hot chocolate and helped everyone on to the wagon. Brad Camp manned the barricades. Santa promised me he would be back next year, so if you missed him this time around you can loo...

A Christmas Touch in New Milford, CT. Yesterday I posted about the snow arriving, let is snow, let it snow, let it snow!  We did not get what the weather people predicted here in New Milford, however I did get a few shots that brought that Christmas in Connecticut feeling to me. And I might have even found the perfect photo to make my own Christmas card this year! There is nothing like a bit of snow and an old New England barn to turn my thoughts towards the holidays.

We are expecting snow here in New Milford, CT, the first significant snow fall for the state since last March. Yes, we had a bit of snow in October, but that fell and left. My portion of the state is expecting 2-4 inches, not all that much in the scheme of things but... for me it could just possibly be enough. I know, snow brings cold, snow brings driving woes, snow brings shoveling and plowing, but you know what snow brings most of all? PHOTO OPS! Yes indeed, I am already thinking about what I want to photograph with the snow. The Christmas trees on the green in New Milford, or the silos, the barns, the fences and cornfields behind my house, what what what to photograph? Perhaps tomorrow morning a trip over to Bulls Bridge Covered Bridge in South Kent? I feel like Christmas morning wit...

New Milford, Connecticut Real Estate - Foreclosed and Bank Owned Purchasing a home at a New Milford CT foreclosure auction has many risks to a potential buyer and in most cases the bank will bid and take possession of the property at auction. The property is then referred to as bank owned, REO (real estate owned) or foreclosed property. To search the CT MLS listings visit New Milford CT MLS listings. A home owner may attempt a "short sale" whereby the bank agrees to accept less than the mortgage balance based on the owner's hardship and financial status. Obtaining approval can be a long and difficult process. Additionally, there is no assurance that the lender will accept an offer at or above the listed price. Bank-owned and short sale listings are often marketed with a real estate agen...

New Milford CT Holiday Tree Lighting Festival of Lights.Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 5:30 pm will be the annual Holiday Tree Lighting Festival of Lights in New Milford, CT. Come to the south end of the green by the gazebo and enjoy the fun! The Festival of Lights includes of course tree lighting, Santa will be there, singing and holiday readings. Our picturesque Village Green in New Milford CT is certainly beautiful all year round but the holidays do dress it up quite a bit. This tradition dates back 43 years, to 1966. It involves a $700 mistake, an angry Walter Shutte and a plastic Christmas Tree. Our beautiful Village Green has been the inspiration for many artists. Woldemar Neufeld gave us his Festival of Lights, David Merrils' rendition of the west side of our Village Green as it ...

Wordless (almost, yeah right) Wednesday, Hanging on despite the odds! This is the view from my office on Route 7 in New Milford, CT, which overlooks Candlewood Valley Country Club, a public golf course. We have been watching the colors come and go, the leaves are pretty much gone all over the area, but this tough little guy just doesn't want to give up the ghost! (Yet one more HDR photo, no retouch).
