The Victory Garden in Newtown, CT  Yesterday, our friend, Paul Fadus, gave us a call to let us know that his band, Boplicity Jazz would be playing under a tent over at Fairfield Hills.  We have never heard Boplicity play, so we thought we'd take a ride over and we're so glad that we did. When we arrived to Fairfield Hills, we noticed all these signs along side the entrance road that said, "Victory Garden".  We spotted the tent almost immediately and made our way over to it.  It was located quite close to where the Organic Farmer's Market is held on Tuesday from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. We quickly realized that the tent was set up in front of The Victory Garden and that a celebration was going on to celebrate The Victory Garden and the people who helped to make it possible.  Speeches were giv...

Sold - 35 Hundred Acres Road, Newtown, Connecticut March 2011 "All too often, the efforts and professionalism of an individual associated with an organization can go unnoticed.  I wanted to make certain this was not the case with one of your real estate agents; Ms. Mandy Beckett of the Newtown, CT. office.  On behalf of my mother, Mildred Larson, I contracted with Mandy Beckett to market and coordinate the sale of 35 Hundred Acres Rd., Newtown, CT.  I chose to work with Ms. Beckett as I desired a real estate professional who understood the uniqueness of marketing a high end home, which at most times would not be occupied, and was confident in her abilities to successfully find a buyer.  Within days of signing the listing agreement, Ms. Beckett developed glossy brochures, had placed ads...

2011 Spring Real Estate Market in Newtown, CT  As you can see in the number of blog posts (check Blog Archives on the right toward the bottom), we were absent from LifinNewtown.com for the months of February and April this year.  It's not because we were slacking off or on some great extended vacation in an exotic location.  We were gearing up for the 2011 Spring Real Estate Market in Newtown, CT. When we looked over our calendar for the months of February and April, we realized that we had a good number of appointments to list homes for sale in February and that those homes came on the market toward the end of March and into April.  It takes us a lot of work to prepare for a comparative market analysis (CMA) and then there's a lot of work to do when a house goes on the market.  We're n...

A Spring Day in Newtown, CT  Today is a beautiful Spring day in Newtown, CT.  As we drove around town, we saw people out walking, riding their bicycles and cleaning up the yard.  Teenagers were out with their friends.  We saw Yard Sale signs all around town and signs for upcoming events (like Strut Your Mutt).  We took this photo on the way to a home we have listed for sale at 18 Georges Hill Road, Newtown, CT: We thought the bench facing toward the pond was very sweet.  Imagine passing this view everyday on the way home. Nice Spring days in Newtown, CT bring out the best in Newtown!

Whether it's winter cold or summer heat , insulation makes your home a lot more livable. From 2009 to 2010, the government helped out, letting you take $1,500 in tax credits for adding insulation. If you took full advantage of this credit, congratulations!  Below are a few tips to follow: Be sure to file IRS Form 5695 in 2011. Relax, because you've taken all the energy credits you've got coming. If you didn't, and you're kicking yourself as you shiver in the cold, you still have options. At the last minute, the government added a suite of less-generous but still useful energy tax credits, available only to those who didn't take advantage of the 2009-2010 program. Among these is a $500 credit for insulation. Tax credit limits and deadlines: 10% of expenditures, up to $500 for the year, f...
