We spend a significant amount of time representing Connecticut businesses in all sorts of transactions.  Last night on May 4, 2016 the Connecticut State Senate voted to adopt the Uniform Limited Liability Act, impacting tens of thousands of Connecticut Limited Liability Companies (the Connecticut House of Representatives having already previously voted to adopt the Act).  Upon Governor Malloy’s signing the bill (which is expected shortly) many Connecticut businesses will want to review the changes and see if the new Act operates in a way that works for their businesses.  If not client’s should a written operating agreement in place before the Act is effective in 2017.If you or your clients have any issues with Limited Liability Companies or other tax issues please feel free to contact m...

Home Prices Up, 8 Out of 23 Towns in Fairfield County, Ct. - 2015.With data collected from the local Multiple Listing Services (MLS) of Fairfield County shows that average single family home sale prices have risen when compared to 2014 in 8 out of the 23 towns. Westport - 6.2% Darien – 5.4% Weston -4.1% Brookfield – 2.7% Trumbull – 2.7% Fairfield – 1.7% Monroe – 0.9% Danbury – 0.5% The biggest drops in average home sold prices are in Greenwich at -9.9%, Shelton at -7.8% and New Canaan at -6.5%On the bright side more homes have sold in Fairfield County with a total of 8,042 up 8.7% compared to 2014. HABANERO PINEAPPLE HOT SAUCE PERFECTION.A delicious condiment to pork and chicken this recipe has the perfect balance of flavor and the right amount of hot. 16 ounces/2 cups grilled pineapple. Fresh pineapple is best but caned will do. 2 Habanero Peppers whole. (A great way to store peppers is to freeze them whole in a zip lock bag) ½ onion (6 ounces) 1 carrot (3 ounces) ¼ cup golden raisins. 2-3 cloves of garlic depending on size (1 ounce) 1 lime with some zest. ½ ounce ginger ½ teaspoon turmeric ½ teaspoon cumin ¼ teaspoon cinnamon 2 teaspoons sugar 2 teaspoons salt 1 ½ cups white vinegar. Connecticut Leases Now Require Notice of Sprinkler Systems for Rentals.As of October 1st, 2015 a new Connecticut law (Section 57 of bill 1502) will require disclosure of operative fire sprinkler systems with any residential lease. This does not apply to commercial leases unless there is a dwelling unit. Sec. 57. Homes ~ What People Want & Don’t Have. One in three American households plans to move within the next five years and here is a survey that shows the gap from what Americans have and what they want. Over 10,000 households were surveyed by the Demand Institute and it reveals what Americans have to what they want in their current living situations called the ‘Housing Satisfaction Gap’. Stamford, Ct. Real Estate Market Prices UP for 2014. Jan 29, 2015. Stamford, Connecticut single family average home sales price are up 3.8% in 2014 compared to 2013. The average home sold price in Stamford is at $689,402 with 642 units sold compared to 702 units sold in 2013 at an average price of $664,205. Condominiums/Co-op prices have also risen in price year over year with 2014 average Condo/Co-op sales price being $350,728 up from 2013 of $328,564.
