It's sort of surprising to me that Walmart will be opening a West Hartford location. I'm not sure why, but the recent announcement that a "Neighborhood Market" by Walmart will be opening in the long-vacant Adams supermarket site at Bishops Corner in West Hartford stirred mixed emotions in me. Don't get me wrong-- I think it will be a welcome addition to the shopping plaza, but something about the Walmart image doesn't quite jive with my own notion of West Hartford as a trendy, upscale, hip locale.
