Pastor Steve Jamison of Eastridge Christian Assembly in Issaquah,Washington  was the guest preacher at my church First Baptist Church of Glenarden in Upper Marlboro,Maryland 20774. Senior Pastor -Pastor John. Kenneth Jenkins Sr. He is one of the many great pastors who I look forward to whenever he comes to preach at my church. Me and my brother were a little late today (Normally both of us are on time but not today for some reason). Even though I didn't catch the sermon from the beginning,it was a inspiring sermon. He said many great things in his sermon. But one thing that he said is "We need to stop worrying about the stimulus package because God has already brought America the greatest stimulus package. I am assuming he is talking about President-elect Barack Obama because earlier in...

Current Number of Homes Active and Under Contract in the Washington DC area: Here is the breakdown as of January 12th, 2009   While Inventories have dropped over the past several weeks; they remain higher than the same time last year. One of the most surprising numbers I see; is the extremely low number of DC Properties Under Contract; especially in the condo market (30% Lower than Last Year).  Perhaps this is a sign of the economy; or perhaps everyone is busy with the Inauguration Events. Here are the number of homes on the market including the number of homes that were taken Off (EXPIRED) the market last week.    Washington DC Single Family:     Actives: 1998            Expired: 25          Under Contract: 347 Condos:              Actives: 1387           Expired: 19          Under Con...

Everybody should get a chance to go to a Presidential inaugural ball at least once in their lifetime.  If you're packing up and heading to Washington, here are some tips to ensure you get the most out of the experience. There will be a total of 8 "official" balls.  These are the ones where the new President and First Lady actually show up and Dance.  And these are the ones that are mobbed.  And this year, there are more "unofficial" balls than I've ever seen.  If you can, do an official ball. At Clinton's first inaugural, I had to do the whole thing - the speech, the parade and a ball.  That year, the Arkansas, New York and MTV balls were supposed to be the best, and a colleague's husband scored 2 tickets to the New York Ball.  Whoo Hoo!  So I curled my hair, put on my fancy dress and m...

By Wednesday morning after election day, every hotel room in the Washington metro area sold out during inauguration week.  But as of now there are about 800 listings on Craigslist by local homeowners who are offering to turn over their keys to anyone willing to fork out an often outrageous amount of money to stay in their homes. Both homeowners and potential customers need to exercise a bit of caution before entering into some sort of agreement, whether you are the landlord or temporary tenant. If you are thinking about letting strangers into your home, well, think about it.  You have to really clear the place out first.  Can you be certain they won't open drawers to check out your stuff, use your grandmother's china, rifle your personal papers, mess with your computer - and the list go...

Ahh...January.  Winter time here in DC and the number of staging requests have dropped signifigantly...and even those who have made contact have seemed to have magically disappeared. So what keeps me going this time of year?.  Deals, sales and bargains! january is a great month to take advantage of all of the stuff the retailers want to remove before the new items arrive.  cool for me!   January is a great month to me to re-stock inventory and prepare for Spring and Summer.  I started today with a quick visit to Ikea, to purchase easy window treatments for my fathers home.   As always, I checked out the AS IS section and found it to be a little sparse, given the long holiday weekend.  But then I ran across this huge stack of doors and I just had to pick one up! I saw this door from the ...

About two weeks ago I was sitting in a corner just thinking. All of a sudden,I said to myself "I need to change my life. I need to do more different things to do in 2009. Some times from the time I get up in the morning till the time I go to sleep,I don't do that much. I want to spice up my life I guess. I want to do more things in life than just the ordinary. So I am trying to figure out 365 different things to do in 2009. But I am having trouble coming up with some things to do. So far I have like ten things on my list. They are Give money to a charity organization. Give your time by volunteering at a non-profit organization. Give someone advice. Teach someone how to do something. Learn another foreign language. (Even though I am a Maryland and DC Bilingual Real Estate Agent. I speak ...

Re/Max's Huntsville/Madison Alabama Mrs.Elizabeth Cooper Ramsey Golden said it best in her latest blog Huntsville Alabama Real Estate and the Mexican Standoff! when she used the term "Mexican Standoff" to describe the situation between home buyers and sellers in Huntsville Alabama. I think the same thing can be said about the Petworth Washington DC Real Estate Market and other neighborhoods in Washington DC. While home sales are down, houses are taking longer to sell in Petworth Washington DC,the good news for Petworth Washington DC home owners and sellers is that home valuation has increased. Here is the Petworth Washington DC Real Estate Market Report for November 2008: Total dollar amount of houses that sold in Petworth Washington DC was $10,377,400 compared to $13,757,258 in November...

Auctions…they are just so 19th century, right? Several months ago, I went to one with a buyer, for a home she had in mind in Reston, VA. She had a budget. Auction bidding went right past it. She eventually got a home on the street that she also loved, though at a higher price. There are auctions every month or so, by different companies, for multiple properties. If the auction meets my buyer’s criteria, I will help them out. My goal is for them to buy a home, and any valid means which get us there are viable. You also will see individual homes that are auctioned off, and whether it’s a single or a multiple sale, the arguments for the buyer are the same. With the buyer who is considering an auction, my role is similar to any other buyer. My role is to provide information on the home, sim...
