One of the perks of living inside the Rehoboth Beach city limits is Spring Clean-Up!  Municipal workers cruise the streets two weeks in April, trolling for trash that is too large to be collected with the usual trucks.  Furniture, dead appliances, unwanted artificial Christmas trees, even the kitchen sink will be collected at no charge.  I'm looking forward to disposing of a gas grill that nearly exploded recently--the fuel line caught fire and the temperature knobs burned clean off the front!  Often, objects left on the curb are picked up long before the trash truck comes by.  I'll need to put a "DANGER!" note on my grill to warn scavengers.  Dates for this year's Spring Clean-Up are: South Side of Town: April 19-23, 2010North Side of Town: April 26-30, 2010 Also, for those doing Sprin...

The 19th Annual Polar Bear Plunge to benefit Special Olypmpics took place Sunday, March 14 at Rehoboth Beach.  The Plunge was originally scheduled for early February, but one of the winter's blizzards made postponement necessary.  2,323 polar bears raised over $500,000 for this very special cause.  Governor Markell was among the plungers, and thousands of onlookers provided warm moral support for the braver participants.  For more information and photos, log onto http://www.plungede.org/.  (Just one more factoid...water temp. Sunday was a bracing 42 degrees!)

Don't put it off any longer.  April 30th is just around the corner.  If you are considereing taking advantage of either of the home buyer tax credits pick up your phone now and call your REALTOR before it is too late.  Get the facts about the deadlines and save some money before it is too late.  It takes time to find the right property, the longer you wait the less time you have to make that educated decision.  The financing rates are low and the affordability index is great.  Home prices aren't going any lower and your time is running out.  Your REALTOR is waiting for your call.  Don't miss out!

The Rehoboth Beach Country Club golf course has retained its designation as a certified Audubon cooperative sanctuary through the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses, an Audubon International program. Rehoboth Beach Country Club is one of only 798 courses in the world to receive the honor. The program, endorsed by the U.S. Golf Association, provides information and guidance to help golf courses preserve and enhance wildlife habitat and protect natural resources. In order to aceive this status, a course must demonstrate that it's maintaining a high degree of environmental quality in a number of areas such as environmental planning, wildlife and habitat management, education, chemical use reduction and safety, water conservation and water quality management. Best Places to Retire, Rehoboth Beach Delaware, being tax friendly to residents is a big thing on a fixed income, such as when you are retired.  Five States offer "No Sales Tax at All", they are: Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hapshire, and Oregon.  But as you can see, most of these states are located in the northern part of the U.S.  Delaware is the only state that has relatively mild temperatures all year long.  And when you purchase something as large as a new automobile, you will  save considerable money as opposed to other states that charge sales tax. Rehoboth Beach and surrounding areas has a small town feel.  Being a beach town, when most of the population comes from traffic from the north in the summer months, it is quite pleasant 9 months a year.  No Traffic, no crowds, no lin...

Winter Golf in Sussex County Delaware Milton The Rookery.  I own a home in Lewes Delaware, so it makes sense to belong to a golf club for me, and I have choosen The Rookery Golf Club located in Milton DE.  The staff in friendly and the members are as well.  Playing winter Golf is Sussex County in the winter is iffy at best.  The weather plays some what of a part in our decesion to play, but as I said, rain or shine we are there, even if it only to eat breakfast.  Early January right after Christmas, after you have gotten your new gear for gifts, well you just have to try them.  So out we go, not always bringing the new gear, but we imagine it will be that much better when summer rolls around and we can finally use it for sure. My first friend Tom, pictured right mainly comes for the foo...

Dr. Cecile DeSweemer will speak at Westminster Presbyterian Church this Saturday, 12/12/09, at 10:00 a.m. to speak on life in the Congo and the work of Butoke - a medical mission founded by Dr. DeSweemer. Dr. DeSweemer tells sad but fascinating stories of the Third World conditions in Africa and gives real insight in how the Gospel intersects real life in a culture that is in many ways different than our own. The church is located at 301 King Charles Ave. in Rehoboth Beach.  All are welcome.

Need I say more?  The parade was great fun, as you can see.  Traditions like the parade and the tree-lighting ceremony really give Rehoboth that warm, "Hometown" feel, as opposed to the resort destination by which we are known by many in the summer.  By the way, if you missed Santa in the parade, you can visit him in his house on the Boardwalk at the end of Rehoboth Avenue the next two weekends, Saturdays from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Sundays from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.  And if you're looking for a home of your own, give me a call at The Debbie Reed Team (302-227-3818).  I'll be happy to help you. Photos are the Westminster Presbyterian Church float, Sussex County Physical Therapists' float, my husband, Frank, hangin' with the Grinch and the Cape Henlopen High School V...
