For those of us who live in the area of North Wilmington called Brandywine Hundred, Concord Pike (Route 202) is a constant in our lives.  I expect there will be a big crowd on July 25 from 6-8 p.m. at the Talleyville Fire Hall (photo)  when a 20 year plan for the area is discussed.  How many more fast food joints can the area stand? Where can we make U-turns to get to businesses and homes on the other side of the median? Can the pain be relieved at the intersection of 202 and Silverside where a tangle of traffic lanes come together? (Photo 4 miles to Wilmington historic mile marker). What about that really long traffic light in Fairfax at Murphy Road? Wilmington University was granted a traffic waiver and agreed to modify class start times and encourage public transportation for student...

Yes, Michael will really talk about graffiti, but once it morphs into  historic territory, it becomes a subject of scholarly research. I have heard him speak about all the “writing on the wall” at Old Swede’s Church in Wilmington, and there is a lot to learn. Join him at Stoney’s British Pub and learn all about it and lift a pint to history! Looking to buy or sell an historic property in New Castle or Kent County Delaware, or Southern Chester County, Pennsylvania? Off to the farm we go today--Highland Orchards, the little farm in the middle of Brandywine Hundred, I mean. Right across the street from Brandywine High School on Foulk Rd., “The Main Street of Brandywine Hundred.”  Lots of organic veggies (plus some non-organics from other sources) and home baked goodies.  Today I tried the sourdough bread and got some peaches and tomatoes grown right on the property. It is a CSA property, which means you can subscribe to get periodic baskets of whatever is good and growing that week. The chicken coops provide eggs, and I’m not sure what the goats do other than ham it up for pictures. The Lintons, who have owned the property ever since I can remember and whose family goes back to early days (1832)  in the area, are still at work, just like their ance...

Being a sales manager of a medium size real estate office in North Wilmington Delaware, I have eyes on the majority of transactions that go through my office. In fact being a hands on manager I have the opportunity to help solve the problems that stem from the sale.Helping to resolve issues is the fun part of my job particularly when it creates a win for all parties. However, the news media seems to have a focus on painting the real estate market with a brush as broad as the country. For those who will read this blog. It is not that bad, in fact several of my staff have been involved in multiple offers as recently as this past weekend. This leads me to the  conclusion that the sky is not falling, that the "buble" if there is one in the North East has not broken, and that if the price i...
