Hello folks, Went kayaking for the first time earlier this week. Wow, if ya never been Kayaking before, best be prepared for some sore arms. We rented a couple kayaks at Lover's Key State Park in Lee County Florida and paddled around the bay & islands. Saw a couple HUGE Manatees swimming under our kayaks, which was quite neat. Here are a few pics..... Picture below is of a Pelican Diving into the water for a little breakfast. In the background is the Lover's key Resort. Below is a pic of the small restaurant in the rear of the Lover's Key Resort. As you can see they are "right" on the water. Never eaten here before, but will in the near future. The restaurant is down by the small deck in the picture. Picture below is looking in the opposite direction as the pic above. We had stopped on ...

Hello Folks,   Happy Easter   Saturday before Easter was an awesome day to spend on the beach. The sun was shining high in the sky and we had a few clouds blowing through. Light breeze in the air which helped keep the heat away. By noon time, the beaches were packed with people & boats.     Had the thrill of seeing a couple birds I’ve never seen before, American Oystercatchers. These were beautiful birds … about the size of a large Seagull, Brown & white coloration to their feathers and BRIGHT Orange Beaks & Eyes.   These birds use their beaks to pry open live seashells like Oysters to get to the meat. HHmm, I wonder if they have to worry about Hepatitis?               As mentioned, Saturday was “Chamber of Commerce” type of day.   The only side effect was the sunburn I now have on 65...

Please click on the words virtual tour to see the virtual tour.  I made this because I see this playground almost every day going from Fort Myers Beach through Bonita Beach.  The Lovers Key Playground is reletively new and I brought my son there a few times.  The slide was fun for him, and there is much equipment to be playeyed with there at the playground.  There are also benches and grills for barbecues and you are not for from Bonita Springs Dog Beach.  This location also lets you see much of Florida's wildlife.  You can get to this playground from Fort Myers or Estero by driving down 41 south to Bonita Beach Road and making a right.  Keep going and going until you see an open stretch of road with no homes.  That is Lovers Key.   View Virtual tour of Lovers Key Playground.  http://w...

Looking for a great beach where you'll be able to take your BEST FRIEND in the whole world?  Dog Beach in Bonita Springs is one of the only "pets permitted" public beaches.  Also known as "Lee County Off-Leash Dog Area."  It is located north of Bonita Beach Road where it curves north and becomes Hickory Blvd.  It is physically located just north of the New Pass bridge and just before Carl Johnson boat ramp and Lover's Key state park.. It's only a few miles south of Fort Myers Beach.Open dawn to dusk, this is more or less an Island sandbar.  The size of the beach varies with the tide and water level.  Pet owners are on the honor system to control their pets and also pick up after them.  Download or print the rules and brochure for Bonita Springs Dog Beach HERE.  To become a supporter of ...
