The city of Cape Coral will no longer be sending in the mail a schedule of upcoming events.  This will save the city about $50,000 annually and will instead allow the city to spend this amount on the programs they offer.  The upcoming events can be found on the Cape Coral Parks and Recreation website.   I for one think this is a step in the right direction.  $50,000 is a substantial amount of money that can be better applied to services and events.  Additionally this is another example where less paper waste will be produced.  For many citizens I would guess that this flyer simply ends up in the trash.

Awhile back, the cable people were in the house to install a new wireless system and one of the men mentioned that he was from the Cape.  We've only lived in Florida since 1992, yet, my wife responded:  Oh, Cape Cod?  Well, I guess that Cape Cod and Cape Coral are both on the water.  There aren't many other similarities. There is a lot of action going on in Cape Coral these days, because of and not in spite of the foreclosures and short sales.  There are good deals to be had. This is the view of from a Cape Coral home listed at 154,900.  It is in move in condition.  Pool, canal front.  3 Bedrooms/2 baths.  1818 squrae feet.  A foreclosure.   LLoyd NicholsRight Choice Realty LLC Realtorlloydn@aol.comcell: 239-810-2980office: 239-463-5217Activerain Local Blog: http://localism.com/neighbor...

What a daunting task to mow all the lawns that have been left in Cape Coral.  I applaud the city of Cape Coral in utilizing the youth for yard maintenance having to do community service.  This improves the look of the community, and is a great outlet of exercise for youth that have strayed and hopefully an eye opener to be educated and stay out of trouble.  Now that it is winter and the dry season it will be easier to control the yards.

A while back Lee County and the Boston Red Sox Hammered out a Deal concerning staying in Lee County.   It was reported today in the News Press that ' Lee County Commissioners today narrowly approved a lease agreement with the Boston Red Sox for a new spring training complex in south Fort Myers. The new lease agreement is for a term of 30 years and has the Red Sox paying the county $500,000 per year. '     Copyright © 2008 By Mike Canzano, All Rights Reserved.  New Red Sox Facility

Pine Island road, the sentrum of Cape Coral, is an expensive road to success.  I am glad the city council of Cape Coral has asked for the money from the State.  I'm not sure the state has this money, but I'm glad.  It would be good to see this happen and as the market turns around be in position to really take off on the corrider. It will come and the businesses will come. It is just going to take some time to get where we need to be.  Economically we are so hurt the clean up of foreclosed properties will be longer than I expected, but I am the eternal optomist.  I'm hoping that this year coming up will be the catalyst that sends us forward.

According to the Southwest Florida  Real Estate Investors Association who has been tracking the number of foreclosures in Lee County the numbers of foreclosures have dropped in a significant way.  While the number of foreclosures have been steadily rising since November of 2007 and peaked at 2665 homes in October 08 with 2665 homes they dropped significantly to 1681 in November.   Pair this up with the lack of new building permits and maybe there are signals that the real estate market is going to turn the corner. Cape Coral reported for the month of November only 4 new home permits.   While not good news for the construction industry this is a natural process due to the excess of available single family homes.  As the homes are purchase the supply will diminish.  I believe in the future there will be strong demand for newer homes in Cape Coral and with the lack of building that demand will not be able to be met.   Unsure how to buy a Cape Coral foreclosure or Cape Coral Short Sale?Download our special FREE Guide, "How To Successfully Buy Foreclosures and Short Sales" and "The Ten Biggest Mistakes Buyers Make". Greetings from beautiful Cape Coral, Florida! It has been quite busy down here and unfortunately I have not had a lot of time to dedicate to my blog! But I guess that is a good thing that once again the contracts are being written and real estate is hot! The passed 2 weekends we attended the wedding of two different friends, both of whom are school teachers. I guess that being around school teachers, especially 1st grade teachers, it is very likely that you will hear some great stories. Whether they are true or not, who knows, but they are amusing! I heard 2 stories that are just too funny not to share! Have a great day! Mrs. C was watching one of her 1st grade students who would continually have his hands down the front of his pants. After trying to ignore it she finally said,"Johnny p...

I blogged previously about the possibility of building an Ice Rink and Hotel next to Sunsplash in Cape Coral.  It was reported today that Ft. Myers based Creighton Development was the only group to provide a proposal to the city.  The city's Department of Community Development will be reviewing the plans.  As the city continues to grow it seems to make sense that these facilities be built.     Copyright © 2008 By Mike Canzano, All Rights Reserved. As we get ready to celebrate Thanksgiving here in beautiful Cape Coral, many buyers and real estate agents in our marketplace do have reason to give thanks this year! Reports out this morning show that the sale of single family homes in Lee County rose 78% from the same time last year! There were 720 single family homes sold in October up from 405 last October! Condo sales were up 48%! This increase is due to the fact that the median price for a single family home in October was $139,500 a drop of 42% since last October! With the stock market on a wild ride it appears that many people are now taking advantage of the prices in our real estate market! According to the National Association of Realtors, distressed properties made up 45% of property sales in October! We had a client this pas...
