Today is National HAT Day!! What hat are you wearing? It's been a very long time since I've posted (or even logged on to AR), so I thought I would ease my way back onto ActiveRain with something fun.  Today is National HAT Day and it's also NFL playoff season. I was born and raised in Western PA, so my blood runs "Black and Gold" (life long Steeler fan). But I do not wear hats (can't stand the hat hair) I looked around here for a Steeler hat to post a pic and realized that all of my guys aren't home right now and neither are their Steeler hats. (that's why there is a pic of our Steeler yard flag).   I'm sure there will be many participating in National HAT Day and they won't even know they are.  What hat are you wearing today?

Many great things are happening in the city of Coral Springs Florida. A Luckys Market recently opened and is full of goodies. Fresh groceries daily and alot of organic items. Some of the best produce I have ever seen and a place where you can actually sit down and enjoy a freshly made meal and beverage. Many chefs like it and Coral Springs cooks appreciate it. They are happy to be in southeast Florida now. At the southeast corner of University and Wiles.Another neat thing that arrived in Coral Springs is the Pei Wei casual restaurant. I love this place. It offers a made to order menu. It's got the wonderful flavor of P. F. Changs, which is who owns the chain. This is on University and 31st Ct.The Coral Springs Golf and Country Club is being remodeled. Even the course itself. They are bu...

Existing home sales experienced a nice rebound in March, which is a welcomed relief to many of us who were expecting better numbers in February. The analysis from the National Association of REALTORS® attributes the unsteadiness of the real estate market to get on its feet at the beginning of this year to the inconsistencies of available inventories in some areas, affordability factors, and the stock market drop in January which may have scared off this of the wealthiest buyers.Get some of the details on the March housing report at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Realty that includes specifics on the Southern region, including Coral Springs real estate.

Always learning new lessons… Trying to convince a parent/parents to move nearer to you or in with you proved to be more difficult than I ever dreamed. I’ve been at this task for at least a year now and I think I have finally made some progress. Unfortunately, it had to happen after my mom recently fell and broke her hip. Sure wish we could have avoided that fall. But I think this has made her realize she can’t live on her own anymore. I do understand how difficult it is for people to give up their independence. She is slowly recovering in a rehabilitation facility (nursing home) and once she is released from there she will be sent home with therapy coming to her house. After that is when “we hope” we can transition her to south Florida. This trip has taught me many lessons. The first les...

Almost like camping -- uggggLife without a refrigerator Our refrigerator, of seven years, decided to die without much warning. In the afternoon the freezer side didn't seem very cold, so I quickly moved everything to the big freezer in the garage. Couple hours later, the refrigerator side also decided to get warmer. After Cary and the boys did some testing, they decided it was the compressor and not worth having it fixed. With a few quick measurements, Cary and I were out the door to find a replacement. AJ and Brad stayed behind to move what was left into the old dorm refrigerator, a wine cooler that semi works (we inherited), and a Coleman cooler. (Couldn't thank them enough for taking care of this -- did I mention we have two AWESOME boys?!)Cary and I soon found out that evening that ...
