It was another beautiful January day here in Crystal Beach Florida. With temperatures at 70 degrees, blue skies and sunshine, it was indeed a perfect day for a late morning walk.  My phone has been ringing off the hook for people looking for short term rentals here in our area but at this time of year, everything is booked through the end of March. Other than hotels, there is little chance for finding a condo or single family home on short term rental during the middle of the winter. Our Northern neighbors want to escape from the ice and cold and most people plan long in advance. It is only days until Christmas and temperatures are back where they should be, in the mid-80's here in beautiful Crystal Beach Florida!  This is what I love about life down here in the Sunshine State. Crystal Beach Florida has 21 homes for sale this month, December 2013. Three of the homes that were on the market last month are now under contract and a couple the had contracts are back on the market once again. Looking at the average price per square foot of those 21 homes that are currently on the market we come up with $229.60 per sq ft. The most expensive home currently on the market, which is right on the shore of the Gulf of Mexico, has a price tag of $651.32 per sq ft. Sixteen homes have sold during the last six months here in quaint little Crystal Beach Florida. The average sold price per sq ft was $178.86 and the average list price for those homes was $186.77. This is the Snowy Egret that hangs out on our balcony. He has been hanging out most of the daylight hours for the last several weeks on our balcony. It is a blast, watching him watch us. We have been feeding him bits of bread and Ronnie broke down yesterday and pulled some shrimp out of the freezer to thaw so he could feed it to the Snowy Egret!  Talk about spoiling a bird, he only has to fly two blocks to be in the waters of the Gulf of Mexico and enjoy all the fish and shrimp he catches but he seems to like it right here, on our balcony - or as the above photo shows, on the roof, looking down at us. 12/15/2013

Crystal Beach Florida has so many flowers in bloom that live outside. Our REAL Winter does not arrive until February and it is short lived when compared to our northern neighbors. For that reason, all of our plants live outside. There are generally a couple of nights (sometimes as many as 5 or 6 nights) that we have to bring in certain plants or at least cover them and their roots due to a freeze, but that is so few days that it is not a bother. Living down here in Crystal Beach Florida makes you appreciate the beauty of Mother Nature and all of the wonderful flowering plants that we have at this time of year. Crystal Beach Florida's annual Golf Cart Parade is taking place tomorrow, December 15, 2013. The meeting place is Emily's Restaurant on Alt. 19 and Crystal Beach Avenue. The actual parade will begin at 7pm but everyone is asked to meet at the restaurant by 6:30pm. Crystal Beach Florida has typical boating weather in December, with high's in the low 80s. This is one of the reasons I love living down here. Yes, you are indeed reading it correctly, it got up to 83 degrees here in Crystal Beach Florida today and it is already December 5th! THIS is why we live down here on Florida's Gulf Coast! We can grow many tropical plants that will die in northern Florida, including Plumeria and Litchi Nut trees and our orchid plants need to come in on average 2 or 3 nights each year (always in the month of February).  If Ronnie had not had a doctor's appointment today, he would have been out fishing! The sun was sparkling off the waters out in the Gulf of Mexico and it was a picture perfect day! Thanksgiving is just around the corner and this is the time of year when temperatures drop somewhat. Down here in Crystal Beach Florida we are also experiencing cooler temperatures. Today's high is only going up to 72 degrees. When it is this cold, it is just too cold for me to go out on the boat. Ronnie will go out in any weather but I need warm water and if the air is this cold, you can be sure the water is a couple of degrees colder. The great thing about Crystal Beach Florida is that we still have fabulous views of the Gulf of Mexico from the shoreline and my morning walks are always a delight! 11/24/2013

Imagine the views my clients will have once they close on their home which is two buildings away from the shore of the Gulf of Mexico here in Crystal Beach Florida. Before taking my granddaughter to school this morning, we opted for a November morning stroll down the fishing pier here in Crystal Beach Florida. The sun was just coming up and we had just finished breakfast. I take her to school each morning and we had plenty of time to spare so I suggested a stroll down the fishing pier. These are the advantages of living in a quiet, laid back little community directly on the shore of the Gulf of Mexico.
