Honeymoon Island State Park is located off the Dunedin Causeway, just west of Dunedin Florida. When I was a kid the only way to get to the island was via boat. We lived over in South Tampa and would take the boat from Tampa Bay, under the Skyway Bridge and up to the island on some days. Other times, Dad would just drive the boat on it's trailer over to the Gulf of Mexico in Clearwater and launch from there. I used to teach Florida History in middle school and remember reading that the Native Americans here in the Sunshine State and throughout the islands of the Caribbean ate them. Well last week while I was out for a walk along the seashore, I gave them a try. Art Harvest is taking place in Dunedin Florida's Highlander Park today, November 8, 2015 from 10 am to 5 pm. Art Harvest began 52 years ago in Dunedin! It was once an extremely small little festival where you could purchase from local artists. Today they come from across the globe to attend this enormous event! It is the best place to begin or conclude your Holiday shopping. There are many great parks to visit in Dunedin, Florida.  A personal favorite is Weaver Park, located on Bayshore Blvd, just north of Downtown Dunedin.  The park is adjacent to the Pinellas Trail, making it easily accessible from downtown.  It is comprised of a playground, fishing pier, two pavillions, and has public restrooms and drinking fountains. The playground at Weaver Park is absolutely adorable.  It's nature theme has children climbing through a tree to reach the slide and climbing on an ant hill to play.  The playground is ADA accessible and designed for all abilities.  There are two main play areas; one is for the older kids and one for the little ones.  A big favorite of the playground is that the entire surface is a cushioned turf.  The kind you would typically only see unde... 08/22/2015
