HAP has done it again!  I recently wrote about the military's Homeowner Assistance Program that is supposed to help our United States service members. When they have orders to relocate, or pcs, to a different military base, the newly expanded HAP would to cover up to 90% of the loss in the service member's upside-down mortgage.  That would be wonderful, because many of our airmen, soldiers, marines and sailors purchased homes that are now worth less than the mortgage balances.  The HAP program would probably save them from foreclosure or short sale. HAP has provided NO assistance since the initiative was expanded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 that became law this February.  HAP has continually removed information from its website. They have thousands of applica... 07/24/2009

What's going on? Eglin Air Force Base officials plan a series of town hall meetings to give members of surrounding communities an update on the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program and other projects under way at the base. The first meeting will be in the Crestview High School gymnasium Thursday April 30th at 6 p.m. Col. Bruce McClintock, 96th Air Base Wing commander, will be discussing a supplemental environmental impact statement for the Joint Strike Fighter program, as well as the Army 7th Special Forces Group's move to Eglin.  Great information to stay abreast of what's going on in and around our neighborhood. The 7th Special Forces Group, an operational unit of the United States Army Special Forces, was activated on 20 May, 1960. It was reorganized from the 77th Special Forces Group, which was also stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Its purpose is to conduct guerrilla operations and train friendly governments' armed forces in Central and South America. 7th Special Forces Group participated in Operation Urgent Fury in Grenada in 1983, as well as in Operation Just Cause in Panama in 1989. The 33rd Fighter Wing "Nomads" is the largest associate unit at Eglin, as well as a premier air-to-air combat unit of Air Combat Command. Military members must present a military image in accordance with Air Force Instruction 36-2903, Dress and Personal Appearance of Air Force Personnel, although a uniform isn't required.
