Last night my fiancee and I went to Canyon, one of the absolute best restaurants in Fort Lauderdale. We discovered Canyon about a year and a half ago on Zagat's, the restaurant rating system and fell in love with it upon first bite.Located in the coolest section of Fort Lauderdale next to the Gateway theater on Sunrise Blvd (just west of the Galleria Mall) Canyon is one of the many establishments there worth patronizing. If you have a to wait and you have ecclectic tastes in furniture and clothing, be sure to walk around the adjacent plaza for some fo the neatest stores that you can find in South Florida. I recommend that you do not go after 8:30/9 unless you want to wait for an hour, becasue they do not take reservations.I begin every expereience there with their signature drink, the P...

More Approvals Are Seen For New Developments Housing slump. Real estate bubble. These words were once-feared premonitions of a total breakdown in the country's housing markets. The City of Ft Lauderdale has extended it's deadline for the 2008 Community Appearance Awards Program. I know you must be thinking the same thing I was thinking when I first saw this article courtesy of the city's website. Ok, hold on! don't go start breathing heavy, thinking the city is wasting tax payer's money. The program per the website, is sponsored particially by way of private and corporate donations. What got me interested in this subject was the fact that the city of Ft Lauderdale and it's residents have been able to maintain this program since 1978. The program as I understand it "recognize homeowners, architects, landscapers and developers for their individual efforts to enhance the City's visual image and economic vitality" [city website] I personally think this is a good t...

Fort Lauderdale is known as a major tourist destination and generally gets around 10 million tourists or more annually, and has been given the distinction of a metropolitan city mainly because of its cultural diversity. The city got its name from a series of forts built by Army during the Second Seminole War in the 18th Century. The forts, in turn, had taken their names from Major William Lauderdale, who lead the command of troops who built the first fort. The city is considered to be a wonderful place to live, work and play, because of its dynamic business, social and cultural lifestyle. The city’s riverfront district, which was developed within the past five years, offers wonderful cafes and restaurants, entertainment and business amenities that area located comfortably within walking...

Ft. Lauderdale is a city in Broward County, Florida that is considered one of he best places to live in the state, in part because it is rich with a network of waterways and canals, making it known as the "Venice of America", with the intercoastal waterway and Las Olas area located at the hear of the city. Probably one of the most unique features of the city, and of Broward county as well is the strategic location of the area wherein it is situated between two other major counties - Miami-Dade and Palm Beach. Most view this as a very convenient location, and within just a thirty minute drive, residents here will have easy access to more activities and amenities, from the region's three main airports and sea ports for travel, to more amenities for outdoor and watersports activities, ente...
