Review 2017 and Plan 2018Here we are are on the last business day of 2017. We tend to be goal driven and it’s time to review 2017 and plan 2018. Our financial statements are complete for the year, so we’ve got some analysis to do, have some discussions and work on our business plans and goals for 2018.Thanks to brain-training by Brian Buffini over the years, it’s just hard coded for me to write down goals, and review them regularly. His last few podcasts have been very good for me develop in my improved daily thinking: Be Grateful.I find myself getting so busy, over-whelmed with transaction details, time-management, and endless to-do lists. I have started a new habit to help me settle down, take a deep breath, and feel grateful. So this year-end analysis isn’t going to be just about the ...

Pond Lighting 2017 at NFRMC Tis the season to be jolly! Don’t miss the 28th Pond Lighting ceremony at NFRMC on Friday, December 1st. This is one of Gainesville’s biggest holiday traditions.  Make this a family event and the weather will be great. A crisp feel in the air and holiday music will kick off your holiday cheer. The North Florida Regional Medical Center's Annual Pond Lighting Event is this Friday, December 1st, starting at 5:30pm.  There will be a “formal” flip of the switch to turn on the spectacular display at 6:10pm, and will be covered live on the TV 20 News broadcast. Don't forget that Santa will arrive too!  So bring your whole family! There are over 50,000 lights, and the display changes every year.  This is the 28th year of the decorating of the Duckpond area.  The disp...

[UPDATE - This restaurant closed abruptly and without warning to its patrons. This review is no longer valid] Cafe Ameraucana has opened a restaurant located at 2410 NW 43rd street. Originally a very popular pizza truck, they now have a cozy fixed location. The dough is a wild fermented sourdough that is the best texture of dough I've experienced. It is extremely soft with a light chew and char marks from the wood fired process in their imported oven. The Fontina Fungo is the only pizza I've tried (twice) via carry out but it is so exceptional I'm not sure I'll make it to the others! There's loads of umami and bombastic flavor.Check them out. This is some of the best pizza I've had in Gainesville. Cafe Ameraucana website: https://www.gnvpizza.com/menu/Facebook page: https://www.facebook...

Want to Buy a Gainesville Home?If you want to buy a Gainesville home, there are 4 signs that you are ready to call a Realtor.  So many people are watching TV shows about finding, flipping, and buying homes.  Yet, while the TV shows make it all looks so easy and FAST in the hour-long show, real life is not as streamlined. If you're considering buying a home, here are 4 signs it's time to call your Gainesville Realtor. 1. Believe everything on the internet? While you can view tons of listings online, not all of the information is accurate or up-to-date. If you are looking on 3rd party web sites, those sites will not have current data. You may see outdated comps, conflicting forecasts and different ratings. Some sites will show you potential foreclosures, and that too is never correct.  You...

9 Reasons Gainesville Home Sellers Need a Great AgentSelling your Gainesville home without hiring a real estate agent might be tempting, especially if you’re in an area where buyers are clamoring for properties. 8 Money-Saving Tips for LandscapingA yard with a beautiful landscape is one of the few home investments with a value that increases over the years. With spring in full swing, you might be wanting to spruce up your lawn & landscape.  Buyers love mature plants and trees, so giving your yard some love even if you’re not planning on selling for a few years is a smart way to go. What’s even smarter? Money-saving tips for landscaping.1. Free mulch. – Many municipalities recycle the yard waste they pick up curbside throughout the year into mulch, which is then made available to residents for free or a very low price.
