U.S. Supreme Court: RESPA fee decision and the effect on Gulf Breeze   Unanimous ruling: Fees paid to a settlement service provider that aren't split do not violate RESPA. Read more.   In an opinion delivered by Justice Antonin Scalia, the U.S. Supreme Court found that RESPA only covers consumer fees split by a settlement service provider with at least one other person.The main issue in the case involved the section of RESPA that precludes settlement service providers from collecting fees for services they don’t perform.
