Hernando Beach, Florida Waterfront Living:  We Hook - We Cook Waterfront living in a community such as Hernando Beach, Florida, has the great advantage that your boat is never far from your backyard.  Most Hernando Beach residents keep their boats tied to their private docks behind their homes ready to go out on the Gulf of Mexico whenever the fishing seems to be good. My husband caught and brought home some nice Mackerel the other day.  There really is nothing better than fish fresh from the sea and so we cooked it the next day.  Southerners of course like their fish deep fried, so the Fry Daddy came out of the cabinet and the oil was heated to a high temperature.  To go along with this fish, I made some homemade Southern Hush Puppies.  Southern-Style Hush Puppies 1 cup cornmeal, 1/2 c...

Florida Nature:  What's walking the Streets of Hernando Beach, Florida? Whether out for exercise or for a walk with the dog, especially in the morning and in the early evening hours, there are always people walking the streets of Hernando Beach.  Today, the neighbors in this waterfront community in Hernando County were joined by these two graceful creatures, a pair of Sand Hill Cranes, that spent almost all day on and off walking the streets of Hernando Beach.  "And you know the way?" "Let's not let this go to waste!" "May I have this dance?" "Don't be shy!" "I used to perform in Swan Lake!" "Nice seeing you.... until next time!"   Florida Nature:  What's walking the Streets of Hernando Beach, Florida?

Fine Dining in Hernando Beach, Florida - Brian's Place Last night my husband and I decided to have dinner at Brian's Place in Hernando Beach, Florida.  Brian's Place is one of our local restaurants in Hernando Beach.  Well known and popular as a great breakfast and lunch place, we've had both there many times. Casual during the day, Brian's Place turns into a fine dining experience at night!  While guests are dressed any way they like, the restaurant is stylishly decked out in black and white with some colorful touches inspired by a combination of Spanish and Italian influences and the work of various local artists. The dinner menu was quite extensive and accompanied by an excellent wine card.  In addition to numerous starters and salads, entrees include pastas and risottos, and anythin...

Residents of Hernando Beach, a fishing and boating community on the Gulf of Mexico, were updated on several important topics concerning the neighborhood and waterways such as the ongoing Hernando Beach dredge project, marine patrol, and garbage pickup changes. Florida Waterfront Properties in Hernando Beach - Many Times it's all about the View! Today was a full day of showings - waterfront properties in our beautiful Hernando Beach, Weeki Wachee, and Aripeka areas.  My customers are new to the area along the Gulf of Mexico and appreciated the fact that their Realtor is knowledgeable about the various aspects of waterfront living.  Questions about boating and fishing, accessibility to the Gulf of Mexico, flood and windstorm insurance, boat ramps, best places to watch sunsets, dining and entertaining in and around Hernando Beach, marinas and boat storage, were just a few of the topics we discussed. The homes they saw were great but the waterfront views from these properties Aripeka and Hernando Beach were nothing short of stunning!      Florida...

Hernando Beach Florida Waterfront Living - Serenity from Sunrise to Sunset Waterfront living offers special moments from sunrise to sunset.  From your home in Hernando Beach you can easily enjoy the serenity of an early morning watching the sun rise while sipping your morning coffee just like I did the other day from my dock. It such a beautiful moment to see the day come to life. Then, after a long day, what better way than to relax by the waterfront watching the sun set in the opposite direction.  Although our Florida summer days are hot, evenings cool down to balmy temperatures often accompanied by a light sea breeze making for a calm and peaceful setting in which to end the day.  Each day is different giving us beautiful waterfront sunrises and sunsets with spectacular colors and re...

Waterfront Homes for Sale in Hernando Beach, Florida:  Market Report for July 2011 Inventory of waterfront homes for sale in Hernando Beach Florida, as well as median and average list prices continued to decrease across all neighborhoods of this popular waterfront community on the west coast of Florida.  The number of waterfront homes for sale decreased in the direct Gulf access neighborhoods of Hernando Beach but increased in the indirect Gulf access neighborhoods still resulting in a slight decrease overall.  In July 2011, two one-story homes sold in the direct gulf access neighborhoods and two stilt-homes sold in the deed restricted neighborhood of Hernando Beach South.  Age and style of these homes explain the difference in sales price.  Inventory in the neighborhoods of Central and...

When you need to know something - just ask! Whether it is fishing information or any other information - just ask!  Saw this sign today offering fishing information - look who is standing in line! I spotted this brown pelican today by the Clearwater Marina where the charter fishing boats come in.  The kids were trying to "cut" in line but the pelican wasn't going to have any of that.  He made sure they stayed behind him as he was closely watching fresh fish being cleaned! When you need to know something - just ask!

Birding in Hernando Beach, Florida:  Parakeets Years ago, I'm told, there used to be several hundred parakeets living wild in Hernando Beach, Florida.  Originally, they got their start from a few birds that broke out from captivity, found our mild gulf side climate in Hernando Beach quite tolerable and multiplied accordingly.  Today, only a few small flocks remain.  It's therefore always a treat to seem some of the little green jewels flying through the air, chattering away, or in this case, taking a break high up on the neighbor's tree. I wish I could have gotten a little closer - it's time for a new camera that will allow me to do just that! It's always a special treat to point out a few of these cheerful parakeets to buyers who are looking at homes for sale in Hernando Beach.  Most p...

Florida Waterfront Living:  What's Floating in Your Backyard? Florida waterfront living is special.  Not only do you have a street in the front of your home to watch neighbors walk by with their dogs or cars driving by, you also have a backyard alongside a waterway.  In Hernando Beach, Florida, these waterways are wide canals that lead to the Gulf of Mexico. Sitting in your backyard then gives the waterfront home owner lots of opportunity to watch all sorts of boats from Pontoon boats to large sail boats travel by.  But every once in a while there is something different that floats along and this was this case today when our neighbor was getting a new floating dock installed.   The workmen arrived early to remove the old dock and then brought in the new one just as if driving a big raft...

Florida Birds:  Beware of the Egret For those of you who are a little squirmish,  you may not want to see these pictures.  When I looked out the window this morning, I caught this white Egret having his breakfast in my backyard.  It's not unusual for these big white birds to walk around in the backyards of Hernando Beach homes and look for lizards, or even small fish and crabs along the seawalls.  Much to my surprise, this Egret scored a bigger catch this morning.  "Bird Watching in Florida"Create a free slideshow with Picnik! Hernando Beach South - Waterfront Homes For Sale in Tampa Bay Hernando Beach South, a wonderful waterfront community in Hernando County is made up of spring fed canals and requires a boat lift system to access the Gulf of Mexico. The boat-lift to access the Gulf will handle up to a 24′ boat. So keep that in mind when you are looking for a home in Hernando Beach South. If that works for you, then this great deed restricted community could be your best bet! The homes are larger than most in the area. We snapped these shots the other day, on a Saturday and it seems most of the boaters were out having a great time. Enjoy. Oh and amazing sunsets come with each home!
