Hernando Beach Women's Club Meets Recently, members of the Hernando Beach Women's Club met for lunch at Bare Bones for their installation of the new officers of the Club.  President Janet Boin reiterated the goals of the club, the dedication to helping others in the community, thinking creatively, to listen and respond with sensitivity, and enjoy each other's company. The Hernando Beach Women's Club is a non-profit organization that supports various other organizations in our community as well as organizes fun trips and events throughout the year.  The club meets every second Wednesday at 10:00 AM at the VFW on Shoal Line Boulevard in Hernando Beach.  Guests and new members are always welcome.  The next meeting will be Wednesday, March 11, 2009.                                   If you ...

Tomorrow is Inauguration Day and a new President will take over leadership of the country. But we don't always have to look for the highest office in the land for leadership.  Leadership can be found right in our own cities, towns, and communities.  There are a number of civic and social organizations, may it be a property owners association, a club of some sort, a crimewatch organization and so on where people from our own midst provide ideas, support, help, and leadership and most often without monetary compensation.  With the new year still in its early days, those clubs and organizations also have their very own celebrations to inaugurate new officers and board members.   Inauguration time may just be the perfect time to recognize the willingness of community volunteers to provide t...

December in Florida! Oh yes... we get some cold "spells" but mostly nice crisp mornings, warming up to comfortable temperatures during the day, and cooler evenings that require a light jacket! What else can you ask of life while people in other States are bundling up under sub-zero temperatures? The day these photos were taken was just such a day! Calm waters made for perfect conditions for a boat ride through the Hernando Beach canals out to the Gulf of Mexico. Quietly moving across the water, fishing is fun… catching fish is an option! Except for this guy who is enjoying his dinner! Sunsets come early in the winter time... join me this perfect afternoon and early evening! Going Home! Good Night! Vacant land sales in Hernando Beach continued to be slow in 2008.  As a result, lot prices have come down considerably.  Lots are available in all three areas of Hernando Beach which are differentiated by their accessibility to the Gulf of Mexico and accordingly indicated as "direct access", "indirect access/Central" and "indirect access/South".  The indirect access areas require boaters to use a boatlift to gain access to the saltwater canals leading to the Gulf of Mexico.  Hernando Beach South is the only neighborhood that is deed-restricted.   The access to the Gulf of Mexico has an impact on pricing, indirect access lots typically can expect to obtain a lower price than direct access lots with direct gulf front lots being at a premium.  Other factors to consider are lot size and wat...

Hernando Beach is a waterfront community consisting of three distinct areas that are differentiated by the accessibility they afford to the Gulf of Mexico.  Hernando Beach Direct Access is a non-deed restricted area North of Companero Entra.  Boaters can use the wide canals to directly go out into the Gulf of Mexico. Hernando Beach Indirect Access is the area South of Companero Entra and consists of Hernando Beach Central, a non-deed restricted neighborhood, and Hernando Beach South, a deed-restricted neighborhood on fresh water canals.  Boaters living in either indirect access neighborhood will require the use of a boatlift to get access to the saltwater canals of the direct access areas. There are neighborhood parties popping up all over Hernando Beach this Saturday.  And what better night to choose than the night the annual Christmas Boat parade sponsored by the Hernando Beach Yacht Club is taking place.  Festively decorated boats begin their journey from the Yacht Club at Shoal Line Blvd down the many Hernando Beach canals.  Visitors coming from all over the County will line along the canals on vacant lots to cheer on their favorites and join into the fun.  Likewise Hernando Beach residents show off their holiday light displays. Parade takes place on Saturday, December 20th, 2008 and begins at 6:00 PM.  Enjoy!

The water tower along Shoal Line Blvd in Hernando Beach has been a landmark for many years. Although, no longer in service as a water tower, it serves as a guide and beacon for boaters out on the Gulf of Mexico. Owned by Hernando County, the tower recently received a fresh coat of paint and literally shines in the sunlight!  Additionally, "Hernando Beach" has been written on the tower on two sides, welcoming visitors and residents alike to our beautiful area. Next time, you drive along Shoal Line Blvd, whether approaching from Hernando Beach or Weeki Wachee, look up and admire the tower, it looks great! Hernando Beach is a residential boating and fishing community on the West Coast of Florida.  We are located about an hour drive north of Tampa and about 2 hours drive west of Orlando.

Great little gem with direct Gulf access.  Sits on main canal approximately 1/2 mile to channel.  Deep water + spectacular views.  Seawall dock and waterside patio complete the package.  Great little "getaway" or home on the beach.  All furnishings are included.  Nearby restaurants and shopping make this an ideal location.  Unlike other waterfront property in Florida, Hernando Beach is still a great value.  Orlando is 1 1/2 hours drive, Busch Gardens and the Tampa Zoo are an hour away.  Clearwater, Tampa and St. Petersburg are just an hours drive.  Hernando Beach North has the feel of a fishing village while nearby there are beautiful large homes.  The sunsets are incredible and can be seen from anywhere on Hernando Beach.  Visit our website at www.HomeInTheSunGroup.com and check out ou...

I found Hernando beach Florida 15 years ago and was entralled, I had stumbled upon paradise.  After living in cold, snowy Northern Indiana this waterfront community was heaven on earth.Hernando Beach has beautiful and affordable waterfront home sites on wide, deep canals leading to the Gulf of Mexico.  We have every type of home here in Hernando Beach, ground level homes built before 1983 and "stilt homes" built after 1983 when government regulation changed waterfront construction criteria.  It is no wonder that I love selling real estate in our community and have always been active in my community here, when you come home from a stressful day just get a cold drink and sit in your own back yard gazing over the beautiful canal and watch the sun set over the Gulf of Mexico.  It just doesn...

Recently one of my associates got a listing for an estate home that had not been lived in for about one year.  The place was a mess - dirty, dusty and just plain full of junk.  There were no close relatives, just a few cousins living around the country.  No one to take care of the accumulation of junk from over 25 years.  One cousin did come to the home and remove family pictures, jewlery etc... but  left the rest and said sell "as is", we are not spending any money to do repairs or clean this home.Knowing that the home would not sell as it stood with all that junk, my associate and his wife and me and my wife went into the home and removed everything except what we thought made that home look like you could live in it.  This home is a waterfront home located just minutes from the Gulf ...
