Scallop Season 2015 Opened in Hernando Beach, FloridaAs of this weekend, scallop season 2015 has opened in designated waters off Florida's Nature Coast.  Recreational Scallop season began June 27, 2015 and runs through September 25, 2015.   Many people will go out and harvest these delicacies from the sea but there are limits to observe as follows: Allowance Per person: 2 gallons whole bay scallops (in shell) or 1 pint of scallop meat Maximum Allowance per vessel: 10 gallons of whole bay scallops in shell or 1/2 gallon bay scallop meat.  Scallopers who don't have their own boat can either rent a pontoon boat from the various marinas in Hernando Beach or go on a commercial scalloping charter.  Of course, Hernando Beach waterfront residents are able to just jump into their own boats docke... 06/28/2015

Some things are an almost daily occurrence while others happen only once in a while. Elvis Tribute starts off Memorial Day Weekend in Hernando County Florida Weekend fun kicked off with a Memorial Day Party at the Blue Pelican Marina in Hernando Beach on Friday. The community started gathering at the marina late afternoon and enjoyed a fun evening eating pig roast, BBQ chicken with beer of a new local micro brewery Marker 48.  Kids had a great time in the Bounce House. Several community organizations such as Crime Watch and the Coast Guard Auxiliary  were on hand with information about their services. Blessing of the Fleet in Hernando Beach, Florida  It was a beautiful day for the Blessing of the Fleet in Hernando Beach, Florida, today.
