Centennial Park Library- Holiday, FL Hosts Mini Donkeys Centennial Park Library in Holiday, FL hosted two miniature donkeys in the meeting room (don’t worry, covering was put on the carpet; just in case). They were just adorable and were part of the reading program. The donkeys stood by while a story about, guess what, a donkey was read to the group of children gathered there (and a few adults too). The donkeys were absolutely wonderful  and perfectly behaved. After the reading, the children were allowed to pet them and have their picture taken with the donkey of their choice or both. I couldn’t stay long enough to take pictures of that part but loved seeing the mini-donkeys. Take a look at the Centennial Park Library Facebook page here.      The one on the left was shy.       Aren't the...

Curtis Transmission Service of Holiday Florida has an honest owner and they do a great job! Ronnie drives an Isuzu and loves his car, so when it started having transmission problems with gears slipping, he was concerned.  After spending a couple of months taking the car to various local and national transmission shops only to be constantly told he needed a new transmission (GM 4L 30 E Transmission) and that it would cost anywhere between $1500 and $3000 to get the work done, he smelled a rat. There was just too wide a price range and each shop told him there was no guarantee that even after they did the work, the car would not need something else. The thing is, just about everything that can be changed has been changed. All new belts, including timing belt, new radiator and water pump, ...

Yesterday we had Lunch With The Pelicans in Holiday, FL   After all the cold and gloomy weather,  yesterday dawned sunny and bright with puffy white clouds chasing each other across a pretty blue sky. We decided to head out to one of our favorite places, Ms. Vicki's on the River in Holiday, FL.       It was gorgeous and we got to enjoy lunch with the pelicans while watching the boats come in and out. We were also lucky enough to spot an eagle flying overhead.   Check out the name of the boat.     Wouldn’t you love to have your Home Office there so you could have lunch with the pelicans?   Toni and Craig Weidman Re/Max Sunset Realty 727-237-0083 email: Toni@ToniWeidman.com Recent Posts Pony Tails Farm Barn Bash New Port Richey Villas, Condos Townhome Report The Yellow Dog Project- What I...

Pelicans and More Pelicans at Ms. Vicki's On The River In Holiday, FL   We went to Ms. Vicki’s on The River in Holiday, FL, last week. It is a wonderful place to enjoy the view and the outdoor dining. And the November music schedule is up.       I managed to capture these guys while I was waiting for Craig to check out the situation. As I looked away for a second, 3 pelicans became 4 pelicans: I didn't even hear a splash. I was hoping for a 5th and 6th but it wasn’t happening that day.           I think I just talked Craig into going today .   If Ms. Vicki's On The River appeals to you as a year round outdoor eatery; call us. Key Vista Park in Holiday Florida (just a couple of miles north of Tarpon Springs) was our destination yesterday for a walk in the sun! Key Vista Park is over 100 acres of wilderness with trails, boardwalks, an observation tower and pristine shoreline along the Gulf of Mexico.  There are also burial mounds from hundreds of years ago and signs posted to leave them alone and not to do ANY digging in the park. The Tocobaga Tribe lived in this area of Florida from around the 900's through the 1500's. What is today Key Vista Park was probably a village since it is convenient to fresh water, right along the shore of the Gulf of Mexico for great fishing and has high ground to live on during the rainy season. While walking along the shoreline we found tailings that were probably brought up in t...

Cobia for dinner? Well Ronnie and his friend David went fishing by the Gulf Anclote Park power plant up in Holiday Florida and David caught a beautiful cobia. That was destined for dinner that evening. Ronnie caught a snook but it got off before they could get the net under it. While you can fish from shore and off of the fishing pier, the guys were in the boat and fished up and down the river but it was near the power plant that this big boy was caught. Nothing like fishing for your dinner down here in the Sunshine State! And what is better than fishing for cobia near the Gulf Anclote Park power plant in Holiday Florida?

Gulf Anclote Park is Holiday Florida's lovely little park on the mouth of the Gulf of Mexico, just north of the power plant. The power plant was put into service in 1974 and is a steam power plant. Originally it was a combination oil and natural gas plant but by the end of 2013 Progress Energy will have completed the transition to have this a pure natural gas power plant.  It is this power plant that attracts fish and manatee to the area during the winter months. For that reason, there is a large fishing pier that is right at the mouth to the inlet leading to those warm waters. Many fishermen bring their boats into this area as well, to go fishing. Here you can catch red fish, snook, trout, sea bass, pompano, flounder, sheephead and just about anything else that is in the gulf. There ar...
