I am Kathy Denworth, a Realtor in the Florida Keys and I like to keep the public informed about what to do here. As a visitor to the Florida Keys, you may be wondering where is a good place to eat dinner. Tonight we went to Lazy Day's at MM 80ish in Islamorada. This is one of our favorites. We opted for the cracked conch. Hubby gets the garlic butter, I get the Key Lime butter. They always serve great soup. Tonight I had the Seafood Chowder, but another favorite is the house salad with the Sun dried Tomato and Basil salad dressing. We also had cauliflower in cheese sauce. By 8:00, it a spent a few minutes more in the steam table to be perfect, but it was close. I also love their Stuffed Shrimp and a friend swears by the Stuffed Lobster. Everything there is good. By all means go for lunc...

As we wind down 2010 and open up 2011,  I wish you the opportunity to view new horizons and reach new goals.  Our business is in transition.....but with education, technology, and forums such as these, we can as they say, make lemon-aide out of lemons.. So in 2011...make some INCREDIBLY TASTY LEMON-AIDE!!!  And, as my hero, the Dos XX Most Interesting Man in the would say..."Stay Thirsty My Friends".

Numbers...that's all they are.  Ahhhhh, but what treasures these numbers hold!!! LOL Like magicians revealing their tricks, "Numbers" as they are often referred to are often quite prized, especially if they consistently produce, and are part of the "magic" of fishing and thus closely guarded.  Still in the Holiday Spirit, The Conchquistador is giving you great GPS Coordinates to start the New Year off right!  The following are GPS Coordinates for wrecks in the Florida Keys that hold the key to sublime fishing. I love Fishing off the wrecks, as they are home to Snapper, Grouper, and Hogfish alike. With so many wrecks in the Florida Keys, the choices of fish to target are almost endless.  Just pop these into your Garmin, Lowrance, or Raymarine and you are good to go!!  The first numbers ...

If you want to purchase property in the Florida Keys, start at my website. If you want to satisfy your tummy with some great Asian food, start at Taki Outi in Islamorada. Taki Outi recently changed hands. They are now providing Chinese, Thai and Japanese cuisine. The Kung Poa Chicken is fabulous. They will alter the spice to suit your pallet. I like my mild and they get it perfect any time. It is served with rice, but I don't eat rice. Another favorite is from the Thai side of the menu, which is the Red Curry. It is almost offensively spicy, but so far I can take it. The peppers and onions are very fresh. I save the extra sauce to put over shredded cauliflower. From the Japanise side, I enjoy the Tuna Tataki appetizer. It is a bit more expensive that most of the other appetizers, but is...

My son came for Christmas. Dad had to work on Christmas day, so we opened a few gifts and went out to Breakfast. Mike Forrester is not only a restaurateur, but also a friend. He and a few others in town (like Willie at Chilli Willie's) are the epitome of the common entrepreneur. It was Christmas and I ate off my usual no carb experience. Let's talk sausage gravy and biscuits and Apple Carmel french toast. Larry, my son, and I were sharing. There is a reason they put gravy on the biscuit. If they did not, the biscuit would float off the plate, it was so light and airy! They weren't the unusual heavy, doughy biscuit I had had commercially in the past. No, these were REALLY good. Then I tried the Apple Carmel french toast WITH apples and cinnamon. It was 6 slices of Apple Cinnamon Bread Fre...

Merry Christmas! We will be celebrating with about 50 friends and neighbors in the clubhouse this evening. I live in a Condo, and just about every holiday we celebrate with all who wish to attend.   The association provides the entree and everyone who comes brings a dish to share. We will have traditional items, such as the 4 Turkeys we will fry and a Honey Baked Ham. I don't know who is bringing it this year, but you can be sure there will be green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, pigs in the blanket and on and on. 90% of what is brought is home made. We have some pretty good cooks living at Coral Harbour Club. I am beginning to believe the approval committee is requiring all prospective buyers to make a dish before being approved! (just kidding) Everyone is in  the pool now, they usua...

197 Nautilus Drive  Lower Matecumbe Islamorada The Holidays just keep dropping more real estate presents under the tree!!  This one..was wrapped with BIG RED BOW!  Islamorada Navigable Waterfront under $400,000!  Sorry for all of the exclamation marks, but this stuff gets me excited, and if you are interested in finding your own Keys Treasure, it should get you excited too.  This property was a foreclosure that was relatively well maintained in a super location on Lower Matecumbe Key, my personal favorite of all the Keys, and part of the Village of Islamorada.  It still amazes me that property prices have gotten this low, and with interest rates this tiny as well, the dream of owning in the Keys and on the water is now a very very attainable reality. This property had previously sold in...

Islamorada (MM 85) is one of the most popular spots in the Keys. It’s not call a "Key," because it’s actually made up of six different islands including Upper Matecumbe Key, Lower Matecumbe Key, Plantation Key, Windley Key and two offshore islands: Indian Key and Lignumvitae Key. Islamorada has a reputation as the Sport Fishing Capital of the World, and it's well-earned. Here you'll find several extremely skilled recreational fishing captains. Islamorada is also known as a place where you can swim with dolphins, enjoy the History of Diving Museum, feed tarpon, get married, and have your honeymoon. As you’ll find along any of the Florida Keys, there are many places to have a drink, enjoy the warm tropical breeze and listen to a local band. Things to do in Islamorada Islamorada is a top ...

As an Ambassador for all things Florida Keys and as History Buff,  it was only Natural for the Conchquistador to be intruigued by a website with the address of Keyshistory.org. So much so that I have now joined as a Paton Supporter of The Historical Preservation Society of The Upper Keys.  Jerry Wilkerson has done a PHENOMINAL job present every facet of Florida Keys History in a consise, easy to follow, forum, with detailed narratives of early Keys Living with hard to find photos, to timelines and mile marker details.  This is an Ultimate destination for those who want to learn how our fabulous Keys evolved from Native American Indian Camps, to Spanish Settlments, to the domain of Bahamian Wreckers to hard scrappled sailors and bon vivants such as He...

As part of my 31 days of December participation, I am embracing the QR technology. I can't wait to see how this will come out. I have created QR codes for each of my listings. Now I am focusing on getting them "out there". I have added them to my Real Estate Book ad I have added them to my MLS photos I have added them to my Realbird tours so they would make it to my CraigsList listings Today, for day 5 of our 31 day challenge, I am printing them on magnetic stock and attaching them to my sign riders. Tomorrow I will add them to all my brochures. Tuesday I will add them as photos on my website. Sellers, do you realize how this will revolutionize Real Estate marketing? With a QR code in my hands, I am "Super Agent" So, take out your smart phone, scan the code to the right and please "li...

Does your Realtor know what a QR code is? Ask me, I will be happy to explain. I believe they will revolutionize print ads.   Today for my Day 4 I uploaded QR codes to all my Real Estate book ads. They are going to publication next week and I will be the first in my market to have a code on each residential listing. I can't wait to see the results. Tomorrow I will add them to my RealBird photos. Then they will also be available in CraigsList.   Miss Callie knows the code.

Are you looking for a real estate agent in the Upper Keys, Islamorada, Tavernier, or Key Largo, in the Florida Keys? Use caution when choosing a real estate agent / Realtor to assist you with the purchase or sale of a residence in Upper Florida Keys (or any other area for that matter).   Recently there have been many agents claiming to have expertise in the Upper Keys, but upon closer examination, these agents are simply using the power of the Internet to appear as a specialist in the area advertised (some agents actually post as Upper Keys agents from as far as Boca Raton, Florida). Ask these questions and get confirmation BEFORE hiring any real estate agent to represent you in your real estate transaction: 1.  Is your office in the Upper Keys? 2.  Do you live in the Upper Keys?  You w...

Another day in paradise! All the doors and windows are open and it is currently 78 degrees inside and out. Miss Callie is on the patio watching the birds. I am kitty sitting for a freind and Miss Callie is still getting used to the patio. When she first got here she would stay under the bed, now she is out and about and living the puurfect life. Her Mom is recovering from surgery. I am so glad we could have her here instead of her being in a cage. My day today? I have to retake some photos at Futura Yacht Club then have a 9:00 hair and nail appointment at Shear Pardise. They are great, they work together to minimize my time there. Lisa puts on my color and Angel does my nails while I wait for the color to process. I will leave there looking great! I highly recommend the Salon! Another r...
