I don't understand why ANYONE would take a short lobster. When the rules say 3 inches, they REALLY, REALLY mean it. This years mini lobster season was a bit windy, reducing the number of people on the water. Enforcement did NOT stay on shore and many boats were boarded repeatedly. Know this, if you take over your limit or you keep shorts, YOU WILL BE FINED! Thank goodness we have room in our jails for offenders. Just don't break the rules. Law enforcement will be watching if you repeatedly leave your dock. They are using boats AND planes to track illegal activity. Oh, and for the bozo who took the Queen Conch, I hope your fine is really high. If you don't know the law, stay out of the water, but if you have extra lobsters, just drop them by my office.   Some of my fondest Florida Keys memories involve the iconic Cheeca Lodge in Islamorada.  Having an office directly across the street has only helped to create even more great memories.   Established originally as a fishing camp, Cheeca has grove to become an internationally renowned luxury oasis.  For many years it hosted former President George Bush (the first), numerous celebrities, countless weddings, and of course photo shoots highlighting it's stunning pier that stretched on forever. The fire, that closed the resort for almost a year, a few years back took some wind out of the sails for a bit, but it has rallied back to true form!    Now, it is reported that the Cheeca has sold to a New York based company.  Let's hope that they keep it as magical as it has been all of these years... 08/06/2011

The Keys Real Estate market appears to be stabilizing, especially in the under $300K market. Let's look at Executive Bay on Plantation Key, Mile Marker 87. There have been 4 sales in the last 6 months between $215K and $265K. There are 5 units on the market, 2 of which are pending and three actively listed. All are priced between $225K and 229K.
