It is finally November. Here on the Space Coast that means the part time residents (we call them snow birds) will start their annual trek down to the warm weather and winter days in the 70s! It also means I will get hundreds of emails asking for recommendations on all types of food. If you are coming down and crave some great Mediterranean food...look no further than Cedars Cafe in Melbourne. This is a cool little cafe that will transport you to a Greek village for about an hour :) One of the reasons I look for great Mediterranean food is the cuisine tends to offer good options for virtually every diet, and in this department Cedars Cafe will not disappoint. The menu has a wide variety of items that will appeal to those who crave beef, chicken, lamb, sandwiches, salads, skewers or platt...

For most people buying a home is the largest investment they will ever make. Because of this you need the guidance of an experienced real estate professional to help you avoid costly mistakes. The advantages of using a real estate professional are many: Knowledge of the neighborhoods, schools and condition of the local real estate market. If they don't have first hand knowledge of an area then they probably know a fellow real estate professional who does. A real estate professional is experienced in negotiating price. By working with you, a real estate professional will know what interests you and watch for new homes on the market that match those interests. By knowing what you want, a real estate professional can help you focus on your needs and not let you get sidetracked by amenitie...

A number of posts recently have underlyingly had a similar theme " The Need for Minimum Standards ". Tales of Agents lack of responses to emails, telephone calls, offers, client concerns, listing details and general public behaviour are almost a daily occurence on this site as well as less popular ones. Why? Do you work and treat your clients the same way as you would expect to be treated or even better? How do we score ourselves against other Agents and how many do we know or know of that lower our overall min. standard in our neighborhoods. With what I have read recently no wonder the general public think the average Agent comes under the ranking of a used car salesman but what can be done. My thoughts are that there are two avenues that can improve the situation and they both involve...

Hurricane season starts today and it promises to be an active one.  Here are some things you need to do now to prepare:1. Photograph everything you own.  Open drawers, closets, storage containers, you name it and take pictures.  Make sure to include all furniture, electronics, appliances etc.  On the back of each picture write the approximate cost of the major items and when purchased.  It will save you hours and hours and hours of time should you have a claim, trying to recreate what you own and what it cost.2. Have at least two sets of photographs.  Keep at home sealed in triple zip lock bags in the fridge.  The fridge is waterproof and pretty much fire proof.  Or put them in a fireproof safe.  The second set is in the safe deposit box at the bank.3. Have duplicate copies of all impor...

Here in Florida we are in our drought season.  Water restrictions are cropping up everywhere, and one city in this state is predicted to run out of water by 2020.  We in the Active Rain community have been  blogging about water conservation, and all of us have come away with some new found ideas on how we can personally conserve.  One thing that I've been doing is to keep a bucket in the shower and while the water is running till it gets hot, it collects most of what comes out of the shower head.  On a daily basis our family of two collects three gallons of water.  That translates to roughly 21 gallons of water per week and 1092 gallons of water per year.  And that doesn't include what isn't captured in the bucket and goes down the drain.  A family of four would realize a savings of 218...
