In 2015 the Brevard Zoo welcomed 2  zebras to the zoo named Iggy and Zonka. These two animals share their enclosure with three white rhinos. The French company, Thales Group (pronounced "tal is" group), announced this week that they will be expanding their operations on the Space Coast instead of a California location which was also under consideration. This will bring in 327 new jobs to the Melbourne location with an average salary of over $64,000 per year. These positions will be in addition to the 240 positions that Thales Group currently has in place now. Thales Group will move to the former DRS Tactical location at 1110 W Hibiscus Ave near the Melbourne International Airport. This addition is expected to add more than $20 million in development dollars for the Melbourne area.
