Well, we've done it again! Melbourne has landed on the list of the 25 best places to live according to U.S. News & World Report. Back in March, I blogged that Melbourne had ranked as the No. 1 place in the nation to live near the beach. Nine other Florida cities made that list as well.Melbourne moved up four spaces in the rankings from last year. U.S. News & World Report analyzed the 125 most populous metro areas to find the best places to live. Factors used to determine the list included job market, affordability, "desirability" and the overall quality of life of the city. The quality of life score factored in access to health care, crime rates, morning commutes and general well-being. Sarasota was the only other Florida city to make the list ranking at No. 18. US News & World Report has listed our humble little town as the Number 1 town in the country to live in near the Beach.Our great year round weather and many public beaches were top reasons why Melbourne made the grade. Cape Canaveral and the Kennedy Space Center were also mentioned in the ranking along with our high tech employers in the aerospace industry. Let us not forget Port Canaveral which will soon be the first US home port for an LNG (liquified natural gas) cruise ship.
