She didn't really do it but the photo may suggest otherwise!     The real deal was Olga Simoncelli and I had a wonder lunch meet up in Midtown Miami on Wednsday. She fresh from the tennis courts and me from the gym met up for a delicious light lunch and a lot of catching up. Always an interesting time with one of my favorite Active Rainers!

VIRTUAL REALITYat theCharter Club on the BayEdgewater, Miami  What do we really see here? A view of Miami Beach over Biscayne Bay? Julia Tuttle Causeway leading from the Design District area in Miami to Miami Beach? A reflection of the Charter Club pool area and clubhouse (the pilings are from a former marina that the condo association is trying to resurrect). Or is it just a happy sunworshipper enjoying Miami's friendly sunshine? The Charter Club is one of the oldest condominium communities in the Edgewater area or Miami. It's in a great, convenient location: 10 minutes from the, airport, withing walking distamce of art, shopping and super dining (just to give a few examples) AND it's affordable.  If you'd like to know more, give me a shout or email consultwitholga@gmail.com.

For you English speakers that's Happy Thanksgiving in Spanish.  Sending greetings to ALL for a fun and healthy day to seriously give thanks for all we have. Let's enjoy the day however we choose and be HAPPY. Meanwhile it is too awesome outside not to be enjoying the pool right now. The turkey is on cruise control so I am out!

ZAHA HADID LEAVES HER MARK ON MIAMI  Who is Zaha Hadid?  Below is a write up on Zaha Hadid from Wikipedia: Dame Zaha Mohammad Hadid, DBE (Arabic: زها حديد‎‎ Zahā Ḥadīd; 31 October 1950 – 31 March 2016) was an Iraqi-born British architect. She was the first woman to receive the Pritzker Architecture Prize, in 2004.[1] She received the Stirling Prize in 2010 and 2011. In 2012, she was created a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire and in 2015 she became the first woman to be awarded the RIBA Gold Medal in her own right.[2]Hadid liberated architectural geometry[3] with the creation of highly expressive, sweeping fluid forms of multiple perspective points and fragmented geometry that evoke the chaos and flux of modern life.[4] A pioneer of parametricism, and an icon of neo-futu...

As I stepped outdoors with my coffee and the dogs (pre-dawn) I was greeted by a cold blast. I was caught by surprise. I haven't been watching much local news so I missed the notice that a cold front was coming our way. After the sun came up I went back out and it was a bit more tolerable and as you see in the photo it will be a glorious day!

Is it a good place to move my family?A:Downtown Miami is a melting pot of people, music, food and entertainment. It is great for busy professionals and young, singles, but there are most definitely neighborhoods that are made for mini vans, play dates, mom groups, and growing families. Coco...

Living in a hurricane zone means being able to cope with a storm when it comes. The media prepares us virtually step by step so there are no excuses. Everyone in south Florida and up the coast has this morning to finish any last minute preparations. Once it starts raining and the wind picks up it is not the time to be putting up shutters. Now we wait...

Miami is ripe for a riot.I don't say this lightly either.  But in light of recent riots around the country and the slow pushing out of Blacks in the inner city by greedy developers can only lead to one thing.  However, riots need a trigger and it's just a matter of time before some racist, corrupt cop kills another Black man in Miami this time.  In case you haven't heard this has happened before in the 1980s and it wasn't pretty.  The Liberty City and Overtown were in flames.  Sadly, nothing has changed for these people here.  These two areas remain largely the same today in terms of economic opportunity and development. Now, however, developers are slowly spilling into these two predominantly Black neighborhoods and buying up property so that they can continue their condo building spre...

Commercial Real Estate Sector OutlookJM Padron, CCIM, MRICS September 1, 2016 The ULI Consensus Forecast anticipates continued commercial price appreciation and positive returns, but at more subdued and decelerating rates; above-average but lower rent growth rates in all property sectors; and better than average vacancy rates in all sectors, except for retail. Retail. Economists see retail as a bit of an exception in the broader industry forecast. Vacancies have been improving since peaking in 2011 at 13.1 percent and are expected to decline to 10.9 percent this year. However, those vacancies remain elevated, which is expected to produce below-average rent growth, according to ULI's forecast. Retail also remains a divided market. “Some of the best centers are full with great rent growth...

Something big is happening at 1001 South Miami Avenue, and up until now, locals could only imagine what Brickell Flatiron, a 549-unit condo tower in the popular Brickell neighborhood, was going to bring to the Miami area. Now, new renderings show, in detail, just how contemporary and practically futuristic, this new addition is going to be.The construction of this magnificent 64 story building began officially earlier this month, and the plan is to have Brickell Flatiron complete by 2019. Although this may seem like a long time span, it is the precise attention to detail and paramount creativity by its designers that will make this incredible property the best in Miami. The creative geniuses behind Brickell Flatiron include Luis Revuelta, Italian designer Massimo Iosa Ghini, and artist ...

Could you live in a tiny house?  I know I could.  And judging by the price of housing today and in America's  major cities I think a lot of others may be willing to settle.  A tiny house in San Francisco just recently sold for$400K. That has to tell you something about the state of housing there.  Actually, you have to earn six figures just to even think about buying a bone there, one of highest in the nation.  The South Florida area is almost as bad with one caveat, however.  I don't think the city of Miami or any other nearby for that matter will allow tiny houses in their neighborhoods. South Florida is not like the rest of the country when it comes to neighborhood designs.  Almost all of them are gated and have mandatory homeowners associations that would never go for this.  I canno...
