My Thanksgiving Bloomers-Toni Weidman. Really, they are Craig's beautiful orchids that bloomed in time for Thanksgiving! Thought I would share with you on this holiday weekend. And, no, it's not the other kind of bloomers! If anyone knows the names of these lovely orchids, please let us know. We grow them but don't know a lot about them. I wanted to call them Susie and Sarah but Craig said that doesn't make sense.    Posts you may have missed.A picture of a picture of a sunset-Tarpon Springs-FloridaFireworks shows in Pasco County- Make Plans NowBaker House in Holiday-Florida - An Authentic Cracker House The Zacchaeus Tree at First Baptist Church-New Port Richey-FL West Pasco Chamber of Commerce Newest Member-QuackBushes with real Character at DisneyWorld Epcot Flower and GardenMomma a...

The SPCA Suncoast of New Port Richey held a Ribbon Cutting event with the West Pasco Chamber of Commerce to celebrate the remodeling of their cat quarters. The ribbon cutting was held on Thursday, November 19, with the Ambassadors of the Chamber, many volunteers, workers and friends of the SPCA. The new kitty quarters are wonderful with rooms that the cats can stay in rather than cages. Lots of toys and climbing perches are found in each room. You can go into the room, sit with the kitties and play with and pet them; get to know your new pet before you take them home. That is Gail Armstrong of the SPCA Suncoast cutting the ribbon. The SPCA Suncoast does not receive any public funding and relies on the community to help. Food donations for dogs & cats are always welcome. Volunteers are we...

Victoria has been adopted! This beautiful girl has gotten herself lost twice in her young life and she needs a home where she can safetly stay put. Here's Victoria's story:     Victoria has been at the SPCA Suncoast since September. This is Victoria's second time at our shelter. Last year Victoria came to us after she was found at the New Port Richey Post Office. She was about six months old and she was so sweet she was adopted right away. This year, in September, she was seen wandering in Anderson Park. She was very thin and dehydrated. A couple walking in the park brought her to us. When she got here we found out she was micro-chipped from our shelter. We tried to find her owner to see what had happened but we couldn't, so we put this sweet little girl back in adoptions. Victoria is a...

Homes sales statistics for the West Pasco (New Port Richey, Port Richey, Hudson, Trinity areas) for the month of October. Homes sales are up a bit from September; however, 40% are short sales or pre-forclosures/foreclosures).   Homes are obviously selling in the under $100,000 range; lots of them are selling to investors. The toughest market is the $300,000.+ range. Home prices have gone backwards with most pricing falling in the range that homes sold for approximately 12 years ago.

Great News from the SPCA Suncoast of New Port Richey: Ryan (from an earlier blog) has been adopted!  Now we have this little angel kitty who needs a home. Cassie is for adoption.   Cassie's Tale: Cassie is a beautiful white Hemingway cat with crystal blue eyes. She is only two years old and is an owner surrender due to an family medical and economic problem. She came to us in July. Cassie is a little shy until she gets to know you, but after that she is the perfect companion. She loves kitty treats and taking naps with people. Because she is a little shy we are looking for a home that is adults or older children only. Cassie is currently living in a community room with other cats, so she may be all right going to a home with another cat who appreciates the quiet life too. If Cassie soun...

We blogged a couple of weeks ago about Gilbert (a charming little guy) at the SPCA. GREAT NEWS: Gilbert has gone home with his new family! Now we have Ryan who needs a home. He has this great smile. From Gail at the SPCA: His name is Ryan and he is about 1 year old and is an Akita mix. He's very sweet and would love to go to an active home with older children (over 10) and no cats. He gets along with most other dogs but we always require a meet and greet with the other dog to make sure. Ryan loves to play and enjoyed our wading pools in the dog play areas this summer. He also has some training as he has a very good sit. He came to us on Sept. 3 from Hillsborough Animal Services where he had run out of time in their adoption area. His adoption fee is $125 and that includes him being neut...

Fallout from the Cotee River Bike Fest in New Port Richey, Florida Well folks, last year the New Port Richey City Council voted to allow Beer & Wine to be sold in Sims Park during 5 special Events, including Cotee River Bike Fest, as a temporary measure set to expire this year. Opponents say alcohol takes away from the family feel the park is supposed to have. Proponents say the vendors doubled their income, benefiting three non-profits, and drawing more sponsors. Police reports there were no Alcohol-related incidents, which was one of the main reasons some oppose it. As of the 2000 Census the population of New Port Richey, Florida was ~26,000. Well the Cotee River Bike Fest turned out over 35,000. I would say that is a good turn out. I personally love the bikes, but the music and snack...
