We can’t talk about summer without mentioning Sunscreen. I moved to Florida 30 years ago from a small island in the Pacific Northwest, where you don’t tan - you rust. I learned quickly to respect the Florida sun. My first day at the beach was followed by a week of pain and I swore to never get burned again. Last summer's sunscreen should be discarded and it’s time to start off fresh. We have no shortage of fabulous restaurants in NSB.  Yellow Dog Eats New Smyrna Beach has aneclectic menu with slow wood smoked barbecue sandwiches and wraps, Fire Pig is my personal favorite with a hint of Sriracha sauce. The must try menu item though is the Tuna Poke Tacos... The proposals are in for the sale and development of the 4-acre site at 160 N. Surfing through my photos, and deleting a lot of them to free the space on the server, I ran into this photo, taken in our neighbor city to the south – New Smyrna Beach. I have always wondered how on earth could there be such a difference between Daytona and New Smyrna Beach. If you judge by the looks, Daytona is more impressive with more highrises, more city-like look and feel. Daytona is a bigger place. And you would expect much more outdoor life in Daytona than in New Smyrna Beach. I am not sure about it. Of course, when Daytona is packed for the events like Bikeweek, or for races, there is hardly a place to hide here. New Smyrna is not a big party place, at least not to the extent Daytona is.
