Yesterday afternoon I went to the Good Apple Equine Consignment Store in Ocala, Florida, to take some pictures and video for a blog post. The Good Apple Equine Consignment Store is a fantastic all discipline equine consignment store which I will post more about tomorrow, including a video. On the way home from the Good Apple Equine Consignment Store, I was too close to Bruster’s Real Ice Cream in Ocala not to stop in for a cup of ice cream to cool me off. It was almost as good as an Active Rain featured post! They (featured posts, NOT cups of ice cream) are few and far between for me. If you are curioius about Friesians (they are [almost] always black): ”The Friesian is probably best known for its black color and luxurious mane, tail, and ‘feathers’ (long, untrimmed hair on the lower legs). The official breed rarely has white markings of any kind, because registries allow only a small star on the forehead for purebred conformance. Knee deep in grass in West Ocala horse farm country, this friendly mare’s mouth was wet from dew on the grass, her face was brushed with sand… and she was beautiful in the early morning sun. It is not only the horse farms and horses that I love in Ocala... it's the events and the cowboy culture that tighten my girth. This year's performances at the 2010 Ocala Shrine Rodeo were absolutely terrific. It has been ages since I have heard the sounds of quail outside. Predators have diminished the quail population, and Darius Lewis wants to bring them back to Ocala.
