A four-lane highway over the Hawthorne trail tightens into winding country roads, picturesque with views of small lakes and ponds, cozy country cottages and the expanses of wildflowers, tall timberlines dominating the landscape. One of our biggest events of the year was today in Palatka at the Palatka City Dock - the 10th Annual NEFAR Bass Fishing Tournament to benefit Haven Hospice. We had about 100 boats depart at safe light this morning, with weigh in starting at 3pm. The winning team could win $2500, and if they had the biggest solo bass, an additional $1000, making a potential payout of $3500 possible.  In addition to the fisher people, there were so many things spectators could enjoy:  Food vendors, including Jamaican, crab cakes and hot dogs. Thta is Florida's Space Coast, Cocoa Beach, Kennedy Space Center, Cape Canaveral.... you know the general area. Only about 45 miles from Orlando......Mickey's hometown!
