Property tax reform passedThe Florida Legislature, in three short days, passed three bills that make up the property reform package.The package includes a statutory rollback and cap of the property tax rates. Homeowners in Palm Beach Gardens, West Palm Beach, North Palm Beach, Juno Beach, Jupiter and throughout Florida will receive property tax relief this year, but the work of the Florida legislature will require some thought and calculations for homesteaded property owners.Of major significance, the legislature reduced budgets for nearly every taxing authority an average of 7 percent for the fiscal year 2007-2008 taxes.  News accounts have estimated that property taxes in Palm Beach County will be 9 percent lower than last year.                                                             Living in Palm Beach Gardens is sometimes like living in an upscale town of Mayberry.  I have been living in the Palm Beach Gardens area for the past 10 years and have met some amazing people here.  These people are highly educated and extremely well read, which is why it surprises me when they seemed shocked to find out that we still have 100% financing programs available.  Yesterday I was at my local Cigar shopenjoying a good smoke when I was speaking with another patron about the mortgage industry.  The gentleman said "I wish you guys still offer a 100% financing my friend really wants to buy something". As our family was enjoying lunch on the patio, my 4 year old grandson decided to climb in his favorite tree.  We watched as he reached the top.  Once up there, he suddenly realized that he was some distance off the ground.  We were all laughing until our sides hurt at his comments.  Finally, he yelled, "Call the fire department! Call 911-!!"Grandma went to the rescue by reaching up into the tree and plucking him down.
