Pompano Beach's Pines Golf Course officially reopens Wednesday, after being closed since April 2012 for a redesign by a world-renowned firm that has done courses in Dubai, Australia and South Africa. The course, one of two owned by the city, was revamped by Greg Norman Golf Course Design, which has designed or redesigned 76 courses around the world since 1987. Pompano's public courses cost anywhere from $25 to $65 to play, depending on the time of year, the time of day and whether you rent a cart. The new course, which is next to the other municipal course, the Palms, features new Celebration Bermuda turf and irrigation, improvements that should keep the course playable and keep maintenance costs down. The largest (and extremely gently) fish in the sea was spotted off the coast of Pompano Beach this week. Some divers happened to be south of the Hillsboro Inlet when they spotted the fin sticking out of the water. When they went closer to catch a better look, this is what they found. Although their name sounds dangerous, whale sharks are actually very docile and curious. They are typically find in the warm Caribbean waters, where divers regularly swim near them. The Palm Aire Marketplace in Pompano Beach has been sold for $20 million. The property, which was sold by DRA Advisors to a two groups out of New York: Nightingale Properties and Carlton Associates. The 140,000-square-foot retail center is anchored by a Winn-Dixie and a CVS pharmacy. The buyers reportedly received $16.1 million in financing from Five Mile Capital at a 4.64 percent rate and an 8.5 percent cap rate. Palm Aire is located at 299 South Powerline Road in Pompano Beach. Headlining the deal were Marcus & Millichap’s Drew Kristol and Kirk Olson, both of whom are vice presidents for investments at the firm’s Miami office, along with Lori Schneider, a senior vice president for investments in the firm’s Fort Lauderdale office, who all represented the seller.    11/15/2012

I just closed on my listing at 2665 SE 2nd St, Pompano Beach. It is a 3/2 pool home with a pool and many uogrades and just a 10 minutes walk to the beach on the west side of the intracoastal waterway. It was listed for $399,000 and closed for $360,000. I just sold my listing at 1050 NE 27th TE in the Harbor Village community of Pompano Beach, FL. It was a bank owned property on the canal with direct ocean access and no fixed bridges for boaters.
