Yesterday Roberta Wieder and I attended a luncheon at the East Room in Palm-Aire Country Club at the invitation of Palm-Aire Friends of the Arts. I was suprised to be handed a plaque of recognition and thanks for our support to this charitable organization over the years. Wieder Realty gladly helps them out by covering the costs of some of their printing, so they can continue doing the services that they provide. Palmp-Aire Friends of the Arts is a non-profit organization that holds events and group trips to musical and theatrical performances in Miami, Broward and Palm Beach. They raise funds and then each year they give donations to programs and theathers who need their support. That's right! Jerry Lewis was a big fan of Palm-Aire Country Club when it was still brand new. He is just one of the many famous people who would visit Palm-Aire, however I think he is one of the few that actually filmed part of a movie here. Today while I was in Palm-Aire I witnessed a Google Street View car very similar to the one shown in the photo driving in Cypress Estates. Street View in Google Maps lets you explore places around the world through 360-degreestreet-level imagery. You can check out restaurants, visit neighborhoods, or plan your next trip. I don't know about you, but I am not a big fan of Day Light Savings time, especially in that first week or so when my body has not acclimated to the difference. However there are some definite perks... 1. I can now exercise safely well into the evening. Personally I tend to bike a lot in the summer time because it is easier to make time late in the day. 2. If I want to sleep in on the weekends, I can because the sun is less likely to wake me up. 3. Waking up before the sunrises. Some might see this as a drawback, however I have witnessed some breath-taking sunrises in the last week and for that I am appreciative. 03/19/2011

According to an article yesterday in the Sun Sentinel newspaper, a new 10 acre Sports Complex is potentially in the works on the northwest side of Atlantic Boulevard and Powerline Road. The land was donated by Palm-Aire Associates, which also plans to build a 907 unit project at 3401 W. Atlantic Blvd. However, there is no guarntee that the project will be approved by the city advisors given the overall costs. "The city has a few options for the property. Many people are shocked when I tell them the vast majority of the sales I did last year were cash sales. In fact 85% of my sales in 2010 were cash sales. Of course I'm happy about it. Financing can be tough these days. It also says a couple of other things that may surprise you. The discount you think you will get with a cash offer might not be as big as you expected. It also means that there is a lot of cash out there waiting to be spent. I was inspired to write on this subject because of some recent examples of buyers making some very aggressive offers. Some as much as 40% below asking. I think they were even a little insulted that I didn't want to waste our time even writing it up. The Silver Thatch Atlantic condos are two high rise buildings located on the west side of A1A in at 525 and 531 N Ocean Blvd in Pompano Beach.
