St. Petersburg, landscaping rocks, stones and boulders. I am one of these people that has a hard time sitting still and that might be the reason why I constantly have a "project" going on. Right now it is to change the flower bed right at the entrance to the house.   Like every year I was going to put new Mulch on, already thinking "what a waste of time and money" because my house is surrounded by trees and shrubs and I always have a ton of leaves on the Mulch and you just can't get them off. The only way would be to use a blower but that also blows away the Mulch..... You see my dilemma?  Well I think I found a solution. I am going to put rocks and stones in my flower bed (big enough so they won't fly away when I blow the leaves off.  Did some research on the net and found this place c...

Every condo or townhome complex in our area has it's own name. Some of them sound very much alike but the properties can be on the other site of the county. To answer a question I often get  "Is this condo association somewhere on the Tampabay Barrier Islands?" St Petersburg Municipal Pier & Marina St Petersburg is in the running for Yachting magazine’s Best Yachting Town! This is the first year for this contest and it has been narrowed down to 50 international semi-finalist cities. The magazine hopes to make this an annual competition. There are 6 towns in Florida included on the list: St Petersburg, Fort Lauderdale, Islamorada, Key West, Punta Gorda and Stuart. It is interesting to me that the areas that I have lived over the years are all on the list. Maryland, where I grew up has 2 towns, Annapolis & Oxford. I lived in the Virgin Islands for a while & New Sound, Virgin Gorda made the list. Then I lived in California for 20 years & of course, several towns in California are the list: Monterey, San Francisco, Tiburon, San Diego, Newport Bea...

The Gift Box opened last week in downtown St Pete and this Gift Box bag has become the latest fashion accessory on Beach Drive. Not only has it appeared in our office, our homes, and on passersby - my latest spotting was in the lobby of the historic Vinoy Hotel. Shop for gifts and shop for yourself. The Gift Box is part of the retail component of 400 Beach Drive NE (the shop is actually around the corner on 4th Avenue North) and is owned by Linda Albrecht (Image Creations of Florida) and Judy Bailey (Brandi’s Interiors). They promise a continuous change of items on display so stroll through whenever you’re downtown. Ever forget an important occasion? Linda and Judy will be happy to remind you when these are coming up, either by phone or email. They may have gift suggestions as well s...

Government Home Loans FHA/VA/USDA in Saint Petersburg Florida are still being used in most purchase transactions. I specialize in FHA, USDA, VA Loan products. When it comes to less out of pocket expense at a rate that is competitive with other lenders such as the conventional types more people are choosing to go with the Govies; which are aka FHA, VA and USDA Loans.  However lenders are not always willing to adopt into practice the new programs being passed down by HUD. Lets just say it would appear that this particular program isn't being accepted with open arm's on main street so far. HUD recently launched a program aimed at helping people who are current on their mortgage loans; refinance to the lower prevailing rates being offered through FHA and VA Approved Lenders even if they ar...

Mainsail Arts Festival 2011 is this weekend in St. Petersburg, Florida. It's April 16 and 17 at Vinoy Park in downtown St Petersburg. Wandering through this juried art show in a waterfront park in downtown St Pete is a great way to spend the weekend. $50,000 in prizes attracts a variety of great artists in various media. The poster that I've photographed here was designed by Jim Holehouse of Winter Garden, Florida. You can buy the poster or a t-shirt with the poster on it at the show this weekend. Usually about 100,000 people visit the Mainsail Arts Festival. A wide variety of art for sale lets you buy for yourself or for a gift. Or just stroll around and see it you can guess who will be the grand prize winner. This is the 36th annual Mainsail Arts Festival. You'll be able to see perfor...

We finally got approval from the bank on a Short Sale deal here in St. Petersburg. Everybody is very happy, we worked very hard on it and now the ball is in the buyer's court. He needs to make a deposit, needs to make the application for his mortgage, schedule the inspections etc. Nothing is happing. The buyer's agent does not seem to understand that NOW time is of the essence. The buyer waited so long for this deal and now he could lose it just because his agent doesn't understand Short Sales. I am a single agent for the seller and in the seller's best interest we might have to terminate the contract today and put the house back on the market. It will go fast since the price is incredibly low and we can advertise it as an approved Short Sale. Wonder what the first buyer will say when t...

St Pete Celebrates the Rays It's no April Fool's day joke!!  The Tampa Bay Rays season home opening game at Tropicana Field against the Baltimore Orioles is sold out. It's the sixth consecutive season the Rays have sold out the home opener. All fans will receive a season schedule magnet. David Price will be starting pitcher for the Rays against the Orioles pitcher Jeremy Guthrie.  David Price, last season's AL Cy Young Award runner-up , will become the 13th pitcher in league history to make starts on opening day, in an All-Star game and during the postseason by the age of 25. (Atlanta's Tom Glavine was the last to do it & that was 20 years ago.) Despite having one of the lowest payrolls in the major leagues, the Rays have won 2 of the last 3 divisonal titles. detail of ball & bat on Tr...

Suncoast Academy of Dance and Music in St. Petersburg My girlfriend had found a great deal on Belly dancing classes and asked me if I wanted to go. Sounded like fun and today was our first class. Absolutely loved it.   Totally different than I thought it would be, great fun workout. If I survive the next 5 classes I might even go to Tab dancing (always wanted to try that) Classes are held at the suncoast dance academy in St. Petersburg on Central Ave. The prices are very reasonable and it is a lot of fun.  Suncoast Academy of Dance and Music in St. Petersburg

Honda Grand Prix of St Petersburg 3-27-2011 16 It was absolutely amazing to attend the events surrounding the Honda Grand Prix of St Petersburg this past weekend. On Thursday, my business meeting downtown with clients just happened to end shortly before the night parade began. I thought that I might as well stay since most of the streets were blocked off for the parade & getting home would be a bit of hassle. The parade was followed by food, music, various vendors & fireworks. All of this was held throughout downtown along the waterfront parks. What a great way for the city to begin the festivities. At the last minute, I was given 2 tickets to the races on Saturday so for the first time, I entered the sacred grounds. I usually peer through the fence or watch from the top (28th floor) ...
