Sanford, FL Real Estate News

Since the shooting of Trayvon Martin the "Stand Your ground Law" has come under extreme criticism.  Earlier this week I wrote another blog about this before it gathered nationwide steam. http://activerain.com/blogsview/3076805/murder-in-sanford-florida-speak-up-and-speak-out- There is a movement a foot to have George Zimmermans concealed gun permit revoked. There are other voices demanding that Stand Your Ground be repealed. CBS NEWS REPORT CASTLE LAW Most states have a version of the Castle Law.  Basically it says your home is your castle. If an intruder forces you into a position in your own home where you have no place to flee, and you fear for your life,  you are justified in shooting them. STAND YOUR GROUND The Stand Your Ground law operates on the same premise as the Castle Law ex...

How much did you make off Trayvon Martin today? How much did you make off Trayvon Martin today? $10 each. “Get your Trayvon Martin Memorial Rally shirts here!”  Or something like that.  Amazing how so many folks want you to believe they’re in favor of “justice”, while they’re all in it for fame and the Almighty Dollar..or $10.  I don’t know if this entrepreneur is strictly a local franchisee of some sort…or if he’s part of some entrepreneurial co-op…or… Never mind- this guy is just flat-out making money off of a dead kid.  Nothing cute about that.  And nothing cute about trampling on a young man’s grave in pursuit of cash. How much did you make off Trayvon Martin today? How much did you make off Trayvon Martin today? Some haven’t sought to make money, per se. Some are nothing but pot-ca...

Have you been following the case of Trayvon Martin? This is the young black 17 year old boy who was unarmed and shot down by a self appointed neighborhood watch captain.  The community was a gated community in Sanford Florida.  The young man was visiting his father.  He walked to a local 7-11 and was coming back through the parking lot, when accosted by George Zimmerman a self appointed community watch dog. Trayvon was armed with a cell phone, bag of Skittles and a can of soda.  Zimmerman was armed with a 9 mm.  911 recordings show the police dispatcher told Zimmerman not to pursue this young man.  To stand down!  Clearly heard on recordings is Trayvon begging for someone to help him. Trayvon was on the cell phone to his girlfriend telling her what was going on. He had done nothing wron...

Tragedy, racism and a circus:  the death of Trayvon Martyr Martin   Tragedy, racism and a circus:  the death of Trayvon Martyr Martin   Editor’s note for those outside of our little part of America:  Trayvon Martin was a 17-year-old young black man when he was shot and killed by George Zimmerman, a Hispanic man. I hate this Trayvon Martin story….hate it, hate it, hate it- for it’s a story filled with nothing but losers.  Death crowns no victors save the one(s) who’ve gone home to see the face of Jesus- and the circumstances surrounding Trayvon Martin’s death are known but to George Zimmerman and the Lord. But was race an issue in Trayvon‘s death at all?  Not sure- but it’s surely been an issue ever since.  Word to the Martin family and others:  young Trayvon’s death is a tragedy regardl...

Pedestrian tales from the middle of the road, #9It's your turn again, Seminole County Sheriff Donald Eslinger...Another of our neghbors has found little use for the City of Sanford or Seminole County's pedestrian traffic laws. He's now gone- but his family, the truck driver and his family will absorb the price of his actions for a long time to come.May God bless, keep and comfort all families involved.. May God also allow us a great start to 2012- and lead our local law enforcement agencies to protect and serve our community as they've sworn to do- even when that means protecting us from ourselves.Lives are worth it, right? And as this story reminds us, when 18-wheeler strikes a human, chances of the human winning the battle are vey slim.Brandon man killed while crossing W. State Road 4...

The following are the market sales statistics for Sanford, Seminole County, Florida for June 2010.  Sanford is made up of the zip codes of 32773 & 32771.  For purposes of this analysis we are only splitting the data according to single-family homes vs, condominiums, townhomes and villas. A couple of definitions are in order.  The median sales price means that 50% of the homes sold for more and 50% of the homes sold for less during a certain period of time – in other words, it’s the midpoint of sale prices.  So basically what this means, is that the median sales price is showing market activity in that it’s specifically indicating which price range is more active. The average sales price, as opposed to the median sales price, is the total volume of sold properties divided by the number ...

Earlier this week, the private-sector Case-Shiller Index showed home prices slightly lower between November and December.  Thursday, the public-sector Home Price Index showed the same. Publishing on a 2-month lag, the Federal Home Finance Agency said home prices fell by 1.6 percent nationally in December.  And that's an average, of course.  Some regions performed well in December as compared to November, others didn't. Values in the Middle Atlantic states improved slightly Values in New England were essentially unchanged Values in the Mountain states sagged, down 3.5% These aren't just footnotes. They're an important piece toward understanding what national real estate statistics really mean. In short, "national statistics" are just a compilation of a bunch of local statistics. For ex...

Using data compiled in December, Standard & Poors released its Case-Shiller Index Tuesday.  The report shows home prices down just 2.5% on an annual basis, a figure much lower than the 8.7% annual drop reported after Q3. According to Case-Shiller representatives, the housing market is "in better shape than it was this time last year", but some of the summer's momentum has been lost. 15 of 20 tracked markets declined in value between November and December 2009. Meanwhile, it's interesting to note the 5 markets that didn't decline -- Detroit, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Phoenix and San Diego.  Each of these metro regions were among the hardest hit nationwide when home prices first broke.  Now, they're leading the pack in price recovery.   For some real estate investors, that's a......   Rea...
