INDIAN BEACH: LUXURY IN AN HISTORIC SETTINGIf you're among those seeking to buy one of the luxury homes for sale in Sarasota, you may want to know about one very exclusive Sarasota neighborhood. Indian Beach has been desirable real estate for a very long time. Natives migrated here in the winters, leaving behind ceremonial shell mounds as evidence of the neighborhood's popularity. It was his interest in Native Americans that inspired Frederick Williams in 1891 to give Sarasota's north shore the name Indian Beach. Today this extraordinary neighborhood is south of the Ringling Museum of Art, west of the Tamiami Trail, and north of downtown Sarasota on Sarasota Bay. A number of Indian Beach homes are sprawling, sophisticated waterfront mansions with private docks and all the high-end ameni...

For decades locals have dubbed the small round inlet off Sarasota Bay, along the edge of the Indian Beach neighborhood, the “Sugar Bowl” due to the plentiful sugar trout that used to be hidden there.  Indian Beach is as much a hidden treat in the real estate market as the trout used to be in the “Sugar Bowl.”   Nestled quietly against the John and Mable Ringling Museum to the north, Whitaker Bay on the south, and Sarasota Bay on the west, Indian Beach is an historic bay front neighborhood in the desirable museum district of Sarasota.  Streets in this cozy, quiet neighborhood are lined with ancient moss-covered trees and ooze Old Florida charm.  An eclectic mix of residents is attracted to this area: musicians and professors, designers and artists all flock to this neighborhood becaus...

Discover classic Sarasota in Indian Beach and Sapphire Shores. For most local residents, Indian Beach begins at  Whitaker Bayou and traveling north on Bayshore Boulevard ends at Sapphire Shores and the Ringling Museum.  What you will notice above all are the beautiful trees; towering oaks everywhere dripping with Spanish Moss and providing neighborhood charm hard to find in newer neighborhoods.  Along the way you will also notice beautiful vistas of Sarasota Bay.  This classic Sarasota community is situated just north of downtown Sarasota nestled between the bay and U.S. 41. From one end of the neighborhood to the other you will find one of the most eclectic collection of homes in town.  From modest bungalows built in the early 1900's, to stunning Spanish homes built in the 1920's Ring...

Indian Beach - A Video of a Historic Sarasota Neighborhood! Visit the link above to view an HD video of Indian Beach, one of Sarasota's most interesting and historic neighborhoods. This area was seasonally occupied by American Indians for thousands of years, hence the name. Shell mounds, called middens, and ancient burial grounds have been discovered here, usually when home sites are excavated.
