You see them walking the beach at dawn with buckets and sticks in hand.These are the volunteers for the sea turtles.Every turtle season they are up before dawn so they can walk the beach to mark and monitor the turtle nests that were made during the night.  The turtle lays as many as 100 eggs at a time as many as 5 times a season. Season runs from March through October.Permanent residents are urged to volunteer. Mirasol Beach Residence project has been cancelled.  As the building on Singer Island went crazy starting in 2001 every vacant land or small run down motel was bought up by developers.  The Rutledge Inn was sold to Taylor Woodrow.  They are the developers of Mirasol Country Club in Palm Beach Gradens, Fl. They are located next to The Resort, Condo/Hotel , Starwood luxury collection.But the  Real Estate Market had  started to take a turn down in August of 2005. After a 22 months of struggling they decided to close their doors.Now we are waiting to see who the next developer will be to build million dollars condos on Singer Island. Singer Island is one of the nations's prime area for sea turtles.  There can be over 3,000 nests per  season.The season extends from March through October.  Monitored by the island volunteers who walk the beach at daybreak.  Vounteers are welcomes.                                                           Nesting and hatching occur at night, both the mothers and new born are guided back to the sea by the reflection of the moonlight on the water. The turtle's sex is determined bythe heat of the sand during its 55 to 60 day incubation.
