Functional Design Features in New Home Construction   There is no doubt, looking at new home construction and especially model homes is always a delight with so many nice features that are put into these homes.   There are probably as many "most important" aspects and features as there are buyers so coming down to just one is not an easy task and I had to think about it for a while. Just having returned from a trip to Europe that included looking at real estate and new condo construction projects, I was able to gain a new perspective and ideas and it became very clear what I would like to see if I were to buy a new construction home.   I am talking about functional design features in new homes and please excuse me if I am taking you to the bathroom for my example.   Traditionally, toile...

World Cup 2014 - Do You Have Soccer Fever?   Even here in the United States where soccer is not one of the major sports, the World Cup currently taking place in Brazil does not go unnoticed.   I happened to come home from my morning appointments today just in time for the game between Germany and the USA that was played today and although I hardly ever watch sports, I decided to watch this game.  I put it on a Spanish speaking station so I didn't have to listen to the commentators and really enjoyed watching the action on the field - without commercials too.   It was a good game with both teams playing good defenses.  The first half provided plenty of goal opportunities and near misses but not one ball went into the net.  It didn't matter because the game was a win-win for me anyway -...

Roadside Beauty Wildflowers growing along our roadsides are as much a part of summer as going to the beach.  Many communities intentionally leave patches that don't get mowed to give  these flowers an opportunity to thrive.  These white daisies are thriving in a moist spot even in the summer heat.  An arrangement by nature's florist!

Why is my Spring Hill Home for Sale not Being Shown? There are specific reasons why a house for sale may not be shown that may not be directly related to pricing, condition, or location.  Most of the time these include limitations on showing availability or exclusions that may be accommodating to the sellers schedule but not to those of buyers and cooperating real estate agents. Typically, the listing information contains these showing constraints so agents who are scheduling show on go for their clients may put these listings at the very end of the list which just as easily could mean they will not be shown at all.  And while it's bad enough when one or two restrictions will make it inconvenient to show a property or some exclusions will disappoint buyers, the following showing c...

Hurricane Season is Here - Get Ready and Prepare Hurricane season in Florida has begun and it is important to get ready and prepare. Although we have not been hit by a major storm in Florida since 2004, we don't know what this years hurricane season has in store for us and weather predictions are just that and nothing more. How should you prepare for a hurricane in Florida? In a previous post, I wrote about the difference of a hurricane watch and a hurricane warning and what to do during each.  But don't wait until we have reached one of these stages to prepare, get ready now by assembling a basic disaster supplies kit and storing it in a dry place. Such a disaster supplies kit should contain a few basic items that will be needed in case of power outages or even if you will have to leav...

Foto Friday - Rhododendron This this time of the year, the rhododendron are blooming mostly in cooler climates.  This photo was taken last year while visiting in Germany in a big public park in my hometown.  Here in Florida, we have the smaller azaleas that are in the same family and typically bloom in January and February in Florida.  Definitely something to consider by gardeners who move to Florida from northern states ad gardening in Florida will sometimes provide a challenge.  Rhododendron or azaleas, both shrubs make for some showy and colorful accents in any garden!

What Not to Do When You are Applying for a Mortgage Congratulations, you and your REALTOR® have found the perfect home for you, you have applied for your mortgage and everything is looking good!  Applying for a mortgage and going through the loan process is not an easy task.  This is an important time during the home buying process and it happens again and again that home buyers inadvertently do things that could jeopardize their loan.  Don't let this happen to you, here are a few important things about what not to do during the loan process: Don't quit our job. Even if you have a new one, the lender may want to see paystubs from the same employer for a few months and not being able to provide them could be a problem. Don't move your money around, or switch banks.  Everything needs to...

Celebrating Memorial Day the Timber Pines Way The Timber Pines community in Spring Hill, Florida, is not amiss in celebrating Memorial Day in it's own way.  Throughout this beautiful golf course community in the heart of Spring Hill, residents have decorated the entrances to their "villages" in remembrance of those who have fallen in the line of duty for their country. This is very befitting since Memorial Day originally started in 1865 as Decoration Day by decorating the graves of Civil War patriotic soldiers.  Later it became Memorial Day to remember the U.S. men and women who lost their lives serving their country.   Celebrating Memorial Day the Timber Pines Way Interested in buying or selling a Timber Pines home?
