For those of you who do not know what Divali is. It's a Hindu holiday, Festival of Lights. The Goddness of Lakshmi. I am not Hindu, but my in- Laws are. All of my children have Hindu middle names. I wanted to give them a piece of there nationality from there grandparents. This holiday comes at the darkest time of the year. If you go out on Tuesday night you will notice how dark it is. I never took note of if till I learned about this holiday. Here is a small clip from the article in the paper the other day. "Whether we're in big countries or on small islands, Divali is an inherent part of our nationality and culture."Coming at the darkest time of the year, Divali represents a Festival of Lights, much like Hanukkah, the Jewish wintertime festival. The South Florida Hindu Temple will cele...

OK I am an iPhone user and LOVE IT!! The only problem I had was not being able to access the MLS since the phone is not IE. But our board (South Broward Board of Realtors) have somehow came up with something new and great. It's MLX Wireless. At first I glanced over it the other day when I logged on. I thought I can't use this, so I closed the window. I logged on again today and it popped up again. So I read further and in one of the drop down menus for phones there was the iPhone. I thought can this be for real? You guess right. I regirsterd and within seconds I get an email saying registration complete. And sure enough I can search the MLS from the phone!!! You have no idea how excited I am about this. And on top of it, its fro FREE!!!! Our board is suppling this for free! I'm LOVING I...

I had a very long day today. Inspection issues, insurances issues with my car from my accident last week, and other things going on. So I am changing into my sleeping clothes when my daughter says mom, look you are wearing a purple shirt and purple shorts. Well I tell her you know mommy use to sing a song when I was in Middle School or as others say Junior High School, for a chorus production. But I couldn't remember the words. She says how could you forget the words? Well it was a long time ago. I went to youtube to see if I could find it there. And sure enough there it was. So I played it for her and she just enjoyed the song as I knew she would. Now she is trying to sing it herself but can't keep up with the pace and is getting all twisted up. Its going to be good practice for her. I...

Today was a field trip day for Tamarac Elementary School. Where did they go? They ventured out to the Fire Station, located off of Hiatus, just across from City Furniture. Boy did they have a blast. I also learned a few things today. So I will share. Do you have a plan in case there is a fire in your home? Have you gone over it with your children? Do you have a place outside that your kids know where to meet you if you get separated in the house going out? No, well I think this is a very important subject. I don't have a plan, but know that this is something I will be working on with my family and it is something you should think about. When was the last time you checked your smoke detectors? Do you know if they still work? Check on them today, there is a button on the smoke detectors t...

Did you know that Florida has now started Silver Alerts? No, neither did I. I was driving on the Florida Turnpike yesterday when I saw the Silver alert on the main dashboard where they usually state whether or not there are accidents or where they display if there is an amber alert. So when I saw silver I was a bit confused. Today in the paper it went on to explain what a Silver Alert is. I was very happy to hear it. As you might know that a lot of people retire here. Well we also have a great deal of people with Alzheimer'. Many are in assisted living facilities. But sometimes they get out and since they are already confused and they get lost. So it turns out that Gov. Charlie Christ started this and has gone active as of October 8 and has been used twice, both times finding the person...

Yesterday I posted that I needed to find an inspector in Broward County. Two my surprise I only got two comments. One was from Vickie Arcuri and from Earl Johnson from Gulf Atlantic funding. Thanks to both of you. I passed it along to my client and let them made the decision on who to use. We need to someone get some broward county inspectors here on the Rain. I know that there are plenty out there. I am going to have to pick up the phone and get chatting with some of them. Maybe even the one my clients decides to go with. So I will be on a mission to get some inspectors going here.   Wish me luck!

Man it was raining hard out today and on my way back home I was waiting on the Turnpike to exit off onto Commerical Blvd. While waiting there I got hit from behind, so hard that it pushed me so far ahead. Luckily I was a good distance from the car in front of me or I would have slammed into it as well. I was so shaken up. Out of nowhere this happens! Luckily as well I had my seat belt on or I would have hit the steering well. I got out to look at the damages, but the medical in me went to see if the driver in the car was ok. He turned out to be ok, but scared like I was. We called the police and waited there for them. As I was waiting I was dealing with clients who called me on a contract that we wrote up and having to make sure we make a great offer. Thanks goodness we agreed on what t...

So last week I wrote a post that Citigroup and Wells Fargo were going to court over Wachovia. Well it looks like Wells came out on top with the negoiations. But that is not stopping citigroup from taking Wells to court over it. Seems they are still quite pissed off about this deal. Who would blame them? Here is a small clip from the article NEW YORK (AP) _ Wells Fargo emerged as the apparent victor in the battle for control of Wachovia bank Thursday night, after rival suitor CitigroupWhile Citigroup said it plans to seek $60 billion in damages for breach of contract, it has decided not to challenge the Wells Fargo-Wachovia deal in court.Wells Fargo said late Thursday it had ended talks with Citigroup and was moving ahead to acquire all of Wachovia's banking and other operations. It said...

Looks like the federal reserve is having to step in to see who gets Wachovia Wells Fargo or Citigroup. The sagga continues. NEW YORK - Wachovia, Citigroup and Wells Fargo, in consultation with the Federal Reserve, have agreed to a standstill of all formal litigation activity. The agreement is scheduled to end at noon Wednesday. Federal Reserve officials Monday were negotiating with Wells Fargo and Citigroup in the hope of getting the parties to come to some sort of agreement. Early last week, Citigroup agreed to buy Wachovia's banking assets for $2.1 billion in a deal brokered by the FDIC. On Friday, Wells Fargo said it agreed to buy the bank for $15.1 billion without any government support. Citigroup Inc. said Monday it filed a complaint in New York Supreme Court against Wachovia, Well...

I'm sure you are aware that Bank of America bought out Countrywide months ago. Well they have agreed to work with some home owners here in Florida with theree mortgage loans. Here is a quick look at what they are doing. Now if you would like to read the whole article you can go here. More than 57,000 Florida homeowners stand to benefit from a landmark settlement reached Monday between Florida and Countrywide Financial Corp., the giant subprime mortgage lender. Florida residents could be in line for nearly $1 billion in total financial relief. Most of that will be money saved on modified loans, officials say. Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum sued Countrywide this summer, accusing the lender of putting borrowers into mortgages they couldn't afford or approving loans with interest ra...

Looks like these two banks are heading to court for Wachovia. One believes they should have it over the other. Here is a short clip from the article. NEW YORK (AP) _ The fight over control of Wachovia intensified Saturday, as a judge temporarily agreed to block the sale of the bank to Wells Fargo, Citigroup announced in a news release.State Supreme Court Justice Charles Ramos issued the order blocking the sale of Wachovia Corp., which Wells Fargo & Co. had agreed to purchase in a $14.8 billion deal.Citigroup Inc. accused Wells Fargo of trying to cut off its earlier takeover offer of Wachovia's banking operations for $2.1 billion in a deal struck with the assistance of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. There are some new speeding laws that went into effect as of October 1. There are a few things you need to know before you head out. Here you go:   Brazen motorcyclists and drivers now will be clobbered with a fine in the four figures — $1,000 and up — if they get busted for excessive speeding on Florida roads. And for the bikers, there are additional new rules, including an absolute ban on "popping wheelies," or lifting their front wheel off the pavement. Under a Florida law that took effect this month, drivers face a $1,000 fine for going 50 mph over the speed limit. Get caught a second time and you'll fork over $2,500 and lose your license for a year. You'll pay $5,000 for the third offense and forfeit your license for 10 years. On the second day the new law went into effect, and usi...

Now if you are looking to register you need to do it before Oct 6 which is next week Monday! So head over and register, you vote is just as important as the next!!!

Why do you blog? I got an email from David Patterson asking if I could do a video of what blogging has done for my business. I love being able to show my community and just talking about  Real Estate. But I have notice that my phone is ringing now. When I ask where did they find me at. What do you think??? Here on ActiveRain of course. Its really the only place you will find me blogging at! And boy do I love to hear that answer.   I think I bloomed back in April or May of this year.
