Two weeks ago I went to an Open House for my daughters school and thought it was wonderful. While the teacher was discussing what there daily routine was and what they do in Centers. One of the centers was computers. She did complain that she has two computers but only has one working, the other can't get on the internet.  She has been trying to get it fixed with no luck. It seems that this particular computer is much older and seems that it will be needed to be updated, but of course because of budget cuts they can't get another one. Her class is not the only class with this same problem.  Now with 20 + students one computer per class in not enough. Going to a computer class in the school is not possible right now since the 3rd graders and up are preparing for FCAT's. I don't think its...

Have you ever read a book that just has taken you to that special place? I have read a book like that and boy was I surprised. Now I am a Christian and I am not the one to talk about Religion or Politics.. But this book is one of those books that even one who is not religous can enjoy. When I was younger I use to go to church on Weds nights and Sunday mornings. Monday nights was youth group. I was very close with God, but when I got older I got busier and had less time to spend with him and grew away from him as well. Do I talk with him? Sure who doesn't? But I would like to have a relationship like I use to with him.                                                                 I will breifly talk about the book, but I really would prefer you read it for yourself. Its about a man who...

Are you looking to stay connected with other moms from your child's class or even the other moms from the school? If so Cafemom has come up with a great idea. Create groups for the school itself. I know that there are moms that can not attend PTA meetings, but want to know what is going on. ARe there concerns you want to address? Have an event going on for the school? Is there a change in the schedule? How about the sports meets, or band practices? This is the perfect place to ask and answer any of these questions. I became the group owner for my daughters school, Tamarac Elementary. So if there are any moms that are looking for something like this, why not go the cafemom.com and look to see if your school is listed, does it have an owner, if not see if you can become the owner of the g...

Yesterday was my daughters first day of school. It started 2 days late on account of Tropical Storm Fay. She was all excited and could barely sleep last night. We live very close to the school, walking distance, Tamarac Elementary. So we walked, the police stopped traffic in order for us to cross the school. We are the only family in my community with kids as youngs as mine are, so no other kids were coming out. She thought she was so special that the polic officer stopped it just for her! So we go and walk the school looking to where we go. We sit in the cafeteria waiting till her teacher comes and walks them to class. She wanted to walk with her, but they don't allow that there. This is when she realizes that things are different then her other school she went to last year. I told her...

So I am taking a mini vacation for a few days in Marco Island. The kids are loving it here. Having fun on the beach, watching the sun go down. Visited the Naples Zoo, got to watch the tigers fed, alligators up close and more. Figured now would be the best time, school starts on Monday and won't be able to take another break till Christmas. Here are a few shots from there. I love this shot, you can see how beautiful the clouds are.                                     Hope you enjoyed some of these pictures. Will be here for a few more days!

Yesterday I was reading the paper as I do just about every morning, but on the computer. One of the headline subject was and I quote~   Selling a Home? Haggle your Broker's Commission" Selling a home in South Florida right now isn't easy. And likely, you'll sell for less that you want. But you can recoup some losses by haggling with your broker on commission fees. Consumer Reports recently surveyed about 15,000 home sellers and buyers and found that a growing number are haggling with brokers - and winning. More importantly, the survey also found that sellers who paid commission rates 3 percent or lower were just as satisfied with their brokers’ performance as those who paid 6 percent or higher. Bottom line: If you don't ask - and be aggressive - you have no chance of saving. More sellin...

In todays Sun-Sentinel they went on to explain the Days on Market here in Sunny South Florida. Here is how it started: Houses in Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties take 156 days to sell on average, longer than anywhere else in the country. OK they started ok, but then had to go and say that it takes us longer than anyone else. Then it went on to say the number of days has gone up, but our supply has gone down:   South Florida's days-on-market barometer has increased to 154 in June from 152 in May, even though the number of houses for sale has declined slightly over the same period. There were 48,362 for sale in July, down from 48,662 in June and 48,949 in May. 26 percent of the Broward homes that sold in July closed within 30 days of being listed. A year ago, 22 percent of the ...

Usually when I meet a client for the first time I am always in business attire. But after being with clients a few times I tend to dress to make the client comfortable. Right now I am working with a set of clients who are the jeans and t-shirt types. Now don't get me wrong, I don't just dress in jeans and t-shirt, but not in a suit either. I dress comfortable enough when I with them. Usually jeans and a semi dressy shirt, so I would be semi- casual sort to speak. Now I know I am going to get some lip about this. That you should always dress in business attire, never dress down. But what if it makes the clients more comfortable to be around you. I tend to go with how the clients are. Are they a type to always be dressed up? Are they a type to be semi, or in jeans? How do you feel about i...

So yesterday I had the pleasure of speaking with Laura Thornton. She is new here, only been on about a week so when you get the chance, shoot on over and give her a warm welcome. She had a post yesterday that she needed a Realtor in Broward county. Well at first I was going to leave a comment, but decided to give her a call instead. You know when you start to talk with someone you just know there will be a friendship or business realationship? Well that's how it went. We spent an hour on the phone, just chatting about different stuff. We talked about AR, Twitter, and more. I can tell I found the perfect loan officer to work with! I am glad I pick up the phone. Sometimes the personal touch of talking to someone goes a long way!  I got the referral and will be calling the buyer today! Sol...

Back in May I wrote a post about Tax Free Week. Well it comes to find out that they cancelled it. The state decided that we will not be doing it this year. At one point we were but then I find out that they never voted on it this year.  First, there was one. Then, there wasn't to be one. Then, maybe there would be a shortened one. Then, there was confusion. Spokeswoman Renee Watters at the Florida Department of Revenuein Tallahassee put the matter of the back-to-school sales-tax holiday to rest: There won't be one this August. "The Legislature never authorized it," she said.   Will it be back next year? Not sure. This is usually a very anticpated time of year. Back to school and saving on clothes, school supplies, etc. I have seen though that the stores and making up for the short of th...

So yesterday my family and I were going out for our weekly morning breakfast and run our errands at the same time. We were going to Publix for groceries as well and he suggested we empty the kids piggy banks and changed them for bills. Well the kids were all excited. They ran to there rooms and bought them out. I got some shopping bags and were placing them in there. My daughter reminded me of the one up on her shelf that she couldn't reach. I went and got it and started to empty it, I didn't realize how much money she had in there! Then there was one in my son's room as well on top of a shelf. He too had alot in there. So we headed out to run our errands. Our last stop was Publx we got a shopping cart since it was to heavy to carry. We started to empty the coins in the machine and the ...

Once of the things I love the most when going home in Woodmont, Tamarac, Fl. Is the entrance to it. This is coming of Univeristy onto 78th st. It use to be all of 78th, but after Wilma we lost a lot of trees. Now its only at the beginning. And love to come through it everyday. Here are some shot of the entrance.       This is the exit going to University.                             This is the entrance. So peaceful and relaxing. Wouldn't you wnat to come home to this? I know I do. There are plenty of homes for sale within Woodmont alone. So give me a call. Would love for you to come home to this everyday.
