The 21st century revolutionized the way we are living and everything around us and the Real Estate industry is not an exception. With introducing new ways of communicating with clients, auctioningproperties online, marketing listings on the internet, and in some cases even working with customers living in other countries and purchasing properties they have never seen in real life, the Real Estate professionals had to adjust in order to stay successful. Here at SI Real Estate, we have managed to develop the perfect set of marketing efforts which enabled us to stay strong during the financial crisis and even evolve in a more successful entity during the recent years of the market recovery here in the greater Tampa Bay area. The year 2013 has been our most successful year ever and we are e...

Bocce Ball a New Old Game Bocce Ball closely related to ancient games played in the Roman Empire. Developed into its present form in Italy, and is played around Europe and also in overseas areas that have received Italian migrants, including Australia, North America, and South America and Australia. Rules of Play Bocce is traditionally played on natural soil and asphalt courts 27.5 metres (90 ft) in length and 2.5 to 4 metres (8.2 to 13 ft) wide. Bocce balls can be made of metal or various kinds of plastic.  A game can be conducted between two players, or two teams of two, three, or four. A match is started by a randomly chosen side being given the opportunity to throw a smaller ball, the jack (called a boccino or pallino in some areas), from one end of the court into a zone 5 metres (1...

Home Size Matter to Seniors  We’ve known for a long time home buying is an individual experience, largely dependent on personal circumstances and tastes. Now, two national surveys shed light on how generational differences can influence the choices buyers make concerning home size, location and age of the home.   The National Association of Home Builders’ “What Home Buyers Really Want” survey indicates the amount of space a buyer requires drops steadily as the age of the buyer increases. Among those younger than 35, the desired home size is around 2,500 square feet compared to the 2,065 square feet averaged by those 65 and older. That’s a pretty significant difference. Meanwhile, the inaugural “2013 National Association of Realtors Home Buyer and Seller Generational Trends” study relea...

Are Active Adults Too Old to Trick or Treat? Are you ever too old to “trick or treat?”  A little bit of pre-Halloween humor… You know you are too old to Trick or Treat when:   10. You keep knocking on your own front door. 9. You remove your false teeth to change your appearance. 8. You ask for soft high fiber candy only. 7. When someone drops a candy bar in your bag, and you lose your balance and fall over. 6. People say: ‘Great Boris Karloff Mask,’ and you’re not wearing a mask. 5. When the door opens you yell, ‘Trick or…’ and you can’t remember the rest. 4. By the end of the night, you have a bag full of restraining orders. 3. You have to carefully choose a costume that doesn’t dislodge your hairpiece. 2. You’re the only Power Ranger in the Neighborhood with a walker. And the number o...

Not All Reverse Mortgages Are Created Equal There's an important distinction to be made about the reverse mortgages I blog about and other reverse mortgages you hear about on the news. The reverse mortgages I blog about are insured by the Federal Housing Administration. This means a couple of things: FHA-insured reverse mortgages are non-recourse loans, meaning your heirs are not responsible for repayment, even if you pass away. With forward mortgages, or home equity lines of credit, however, your heirs incur the debt if you were to pass away. While it's essential that you, as the borrower, benefit from the substantial cash flow boost a reverse mortgage can offer, it's also important to consider what you will be leaving behind if you chose not to get a reverse mortgage. On top of your p...

Tampa, FL -  City In The Mist Coming back from an African Violet Council Flower Show, last week, we used the Bayside bridge and to our east we could see (just barely) the Tampa skyline. Tampa is a spread-out city rather than a high-rise city so the skyline may not be an impressive as some cities. However, since this bridge didn’t exist 20 years ago when we drove down to Craig’s parents home every week and we had to take the long way around, I just love this view.   I never get tired of the bridge views anywhere on our peninsula state.   I think it's because of the water! (keep in mind, we were traveling at 55 miles an hour when I took this).   Recent Posts October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month Andrea Bocelli at Tampa’s Times Forum Shayna is Patiently Waiting For Caturday Looking Fo...

What the Heck Is PickleBall? A Lively Racket Game for all Ages and Abilities PickleBall was created with one thing in mind: fun. The fast-moving sport, played on a small surface, provides plenty of aerobic exercise, stretching, friendly competition and opportunities for social engagement. It was designed to be easy to learn and play whether you’re five, eighty-five or somewhere in between. Court and Gear- PickleBall is traditionally played on a badminton-sized court with special Pickle Ball paddles, made of wood or high-tech aerospace materials. The ball used is similar to a wiffle ball, but slightly smaller. The lower net and wiffle ball allow the game to be accessible to people of all ages and abilities, while still allowing more competitive players to test their mettle. Rules of the ...

There is No "Magic Number" in Retirement Planning What is the magic number? When will I get to the magic number? Is there even a magic number? What am I talking about? The amount of money you will need in order to retire comfortably. The truth is, I don't think there is one. I don't think there ever was one, despite the fact that many people thought there was.  Why can there never be one? Well, we are not fortune tellers. In order to have the magic number, we would need to know what will happen in the future. That is the only sure-fire we will have the magic number. We can plan and we can try to get the magic number, but the fact of the matter is, sometimes, it will never be enough. What used to be a good plan before, doesn't quite hold true anymore, especially if you didn't plan for th...

Why Are You Trying To Sell Me Something? I Just Had a Question. It's not uncommon that we have come across this at least once or twice in our careers. The fact of the matter is, whenever a potential client calls to make inquiries and we bombard them with sales pitches, we potentially loose out on their business. They don't want to be sold on anything, they just wanted some information. It's important to remember that while we are in the business of selling, we are consumers ourselves, and we don't like to be sold either. I think sometimes this slips some minds and every phone call they receive ends up begins and ends with a sales pitch. Not that there's anything wrong with selling your product or service, but there is also a time and place for everything. The consumer should be the one ...

Reverse Mortgages Offer Baby Boomers Retirement Security At the beginning of August, the Boston College's Center for Retirement Research-sponsored Washington Conference discussed "Retirement Security in Changing Times." During the conference, the value of reverse mortgages on retirement planning was also discussed, leading to some surprising findings, according to the National Reverse Mortgage Lenders Association. Many Americans who want to retire are postponing solely due to the burden of their mortgage payments. A reverse mortgage can help retiring Americans pay off their mortgage. If the heaviest burden on your retirement is mortgage, a reverse mortgage allows you to live mortgage-free for the rest of retirement and leaves an extra source of cash flow that can be stored in a line of ...
