Brooker Creek Preserve is the largest natural preserve in Pinellas County, being over 8,500 acres! It borders Pasco and Hillsborough Counties and is NOT a park, but an actual natural wilderness area protected and managed by the Pinellas County Department of Environmental Management. Brooker Creek is the only creek that runs into Lake Tarpon and supplies the lake with water which runs through Brooker Creek's swamps and wetlands before entering Lake Tarpon. The preserve is approximately 7 miles long and about a mile wide - it is surrounded by a rapidly growing urban community and is a place where nature can still be enjoyed in it's natural state!

I am not talking about college frat houses, I am talking about real life GREEK!!! Tarpon Springs, Florida has the largest GREEK community in the state of Florida! What does that mean? It means a beautiful church like the one in the photo; it also means a wonderful Epiphany celebration the first week of January  like the one in the photo!!! I love Tarpon Springs and I am not GREEK! This place rocks! Not only does it offer all the tourist could wish for (sponge diving boats that offer tours of the local area and diving demonstrations where the divers bring up sponges from local waters) but the best restaurants you can imagine outside of the Greek Islands!!! The food is WONDERFUL!!!!!

If you don't live in South Florida, you are probably not familiar with the Cuban Tree Frog! These guys are absolutely adorable and can get rather large. You may be going to look out your window one day and there he is, staring back at you with his little suction cupped hands holding onto your window from the outside! Cuban tree frogs are a delight! They can turn extremely pale, almost white, but their usual color is what you see here, a nice lime green color. They have large eyes and love to ingest bugs, which makes them one of my favorites around the house!!! This guy is sitting on the side of the window....the picture is not turned, it is in the correct position!

Tarpon Springs, Florida is home to two of Pinellas Counties Public Parks:A.L. Anderson Park in Tarpon Springs Florida is situated on Lake Tarpon and Fred H Howard Park in Tarpon Spings Florida juts out into the Gulf of Mexico. Two fabulous parks with two different environments - many things to do.   A. L. Anderson Park is almost 130 acres of green space in Northern Pinellas County and has a distinctive hilly terrain and long nature trail and boardwalk along Lake Tarpon and Salmon Bay. It has a playground for kids and a paw ground for dogs. It has large areas of ample picnic tables. This park officially opened in 1982 and is named after a former commissioner who was a fisherman and also won several conservation awards.   Today I want share some of my favorite things about A L Anderson Pa...

Tarpon Springs is a Greek "city" of about 20,000 people,  in northern Pinellas County, Florida, on the Gulf of Mexico. It's about 30 miles from St. Petersburg, so an easy drive when you feel like authentic Greek food and Greek culture. With 51 miles of waterfront, gulf, river and bayous, The Sponge Docks are a great attraction - yes, the fisherman bring in live sponges, and you can buy many types of sponges in the 100 or so shops on the docks. There are also over a dozen restaurants just on the docks, so there are many more Greek treats than you can possible eat.Today is an appropriate day to write about Tarpon Springs - it's the annual Epiphany celebration, I think the 101st. It's said to be the largest Epiphany celebration in the entire US. The day starts with a mass at St. Nicholas G...
