I was in downtown Tarpon Springs last week (and again on Saturday for an Arts Fair...another blog) and saw this interesting window display at one of the lovely antique shops there.  I thought she did a wonderful job with her display and wanted to share it.                                         Somehow I don't think that candy is going to help him put on weight, do you?   If you're thinking of buying a home in Tarpon Springs, Trinity, or New Port Richey, FL, give us a call. We have been selling homes in the area for 23 years.   Toni Weidman Broker-associate Re/Max Sunset Realty 727-237-0083

Last week we took a walk on Lighthouse Island, off the coast of Tarpon Springs Florida. You can only get to Lighthouse Island by boat and that is one of the things that makes it special. With the weather cooling down so the afternoons remain in the high 80's, this is the perfect time of year to take an afternoon off and make the trip out to one of our wonderful barrier islands. Lighthouse Island's lighthouse is no longer in use but you can go up the lighthouse to look around. The island is protected by the Florida State Parks Department and many love to come out to the island on the weekend to picnic and camp out. That is why we always choose to go out during the work week......when there are very few people on the island. Lighthouse Island off Tarpon Springs Florida is a great day trip...

Branching Out In Tarpon Springs, FL We love our trees here in the sunshine state and take extra care to save them whenever we can.  These lucky branches had a wall built with special niches just for them (We all know what niches are and how we have to have special ones).   We were just leaving Billy’s Tarpon Turtle Restaurant when Craig pointed these out to me. We’ve seen them before but they never said “blog fodder” to me then.     As I said, we love our branching trees.   yToni Weidman, Broker-associate,     Re/Max Sunset Realty 727-237-0083   Save a life, adopt a shelter pet.

Beckett Bridge in Tarpon Springs-Florida is one of several drawbridges in Pinellas County; but Beckett is unique in that it does not have a full-time bridge tender on duty. Tall boats have to provide notice to Pinellas County 2 hours prior to requesting a bridge opening!Stretching over Whitcomb and Minetta Bayous, Beckett Bridge was originally constructed in 1924 and re-constructed as it is today in 1956. It is a concrete, low-level drawbridge. And, it features a single-leaf span rather than the double-leaf spans found in all the other Pinellas County drawbridges.   Becket Bridge is named after a Pinellas County Commissioner, E. H. Beckett. Mr. Beckett was chairman of the Board of County Commissioners in 1924. If you are taking a trip to the Sponge Docks; plan on a drive over the pictu...

Evening At The Tarpon Springs Yacht Club   Last evening, we went to  a Yappy Hour at the Tarpon Springs Yacht Club which is a wonderful place to spend a summer evening. The cool breezes, view of the water and boats, and the old Beckett Bridge (draw bridge) are wonderful. I wrote a blog about the bridge in 2011, click here to see it. The bridge was built in 1924 and is interesting to watch when it goes up and down; I wrote a blog about it in 2011 which you can access here.     Shawna and Alan eating dinner from dog bowls,           Last night, we met several very social dogs and their social owners (I wonder if there is a correlation there). And had a lovely evening. Our friends Shawna and Alan Burrish are members of the Tarpon Springs Yacht Club and invite us to many events. We are go...

Tarpon Springs Florida Homes for Sale - June 2014 There are currently 283 single family homes for sale in Tarpon Springs Florida. With the market heating up as it is, it is interesting that during the last 6 months, the median days on the market was under three months.   Perhaps the reason so many people love Tarpon Springs Florida is the fact that it is a beautiful little Greek fishing village! Here you can enjoy a traditional Greek dinner in one of the dozens of Greek restaurants. If you know a few words in the language, the shop owners will be pleased to hear you speak them! From the Sponge Docks (which was the reason so many Greeks immigrated here from the Greek Islands over a hundred years ago) to the unique Greek shops selling locally made goods as well as items from the Greek Isl...

Today I had boating lessons on Lake Tarpon in Tarpon Springs Florida. Ronnie had a little work to do on the trailer, so we drove up to Anderson Park, which is the closest boat ramp on Lake Tarpon. We put the boat in the water and tied it up to a side dock, out of the way of others, and then he got to work and I assisted as much as I could. After that it was time for boating lessons. I had been in the boat when he backed the trailer into the lake and I had docked it on the side dock but now Ronnie got in the boat with me and I had to dock it several more times, including backwards. Then he wanted me to pretend there was another boat in one location and dock around it. By the time that he said it was time to put the boat on the trailer, I was exhausted! And then he said take it off the tr...

Lunch With An Egret At The Sponge Docks in Tarpon Springs, FL I love going to the Sponge Docks in Tarpon Springs, FL. You just never know who you will run into. This visit got us a visit from an egret sitting on our window of Rusty Bellies Restaurant. (One of our favorite restaurants). He seems to be contemplating something; maybe it was whether or not he could grab some of my lunch.  He stayed to visit for quite a while, was very polite and did not at any time try to grab a french fry.If you would like to be able to lunch with an egret, give us a call. We can find you a home in the area. Toni and Craig WeidmanBroker-associateFlorida Luxury727-237-0083   Photo by Toni. Edited in Lomo style.

The Perfect Day In Tarpon Springs, FL happened yesterday. We attended the Fine Arts Festival on Spring Bayou in Craig Park. The Festival was wonderful as it always is, and the weather was absolutely perfect - about 80 with a light breeze.   You can see the Festival on the right, I walked away to get the water shot. The artists showed a variety of media and all were fantastic; many were local so it was fun to chat with them. We also met someone from Melbourne Beach on the east coast where we owned property a few years back. I love going to these events; there are always so many interesting people to talk to. A Greeter at Billy's Tarpon Turtle Afterwards, we decided on lunch at Billy's Tarpon Turtle on Lake Tarpon. Lake Tarpon is a beautiful lake with boating and fishing. We spent lots of...
