We turned back our clocks last night with a wonderful welcoming of our cooler weather settling in. Awakening on this Sunday morning to a cool 67 Degrees warranted opening the windows to allow our home to be filled with the crisp morning air. Mark Bellissimo filed a law suit against the Village of Wellington. The complaint is that Stadium Jumping received preferential treatment from the Village of Wellington in approving Stadium Jumpings's move to the Wellington Preserve. This is because it only took Stadium Jumping four months to get the approval to move and yet it took over a year to get Mark Bellissimo's project approved and Bellissimo had to go through the state for approvals first and Stadium Jumping didn't. Now why would this even be an issue for Bellissimo who is now the new owner of Palm Beach Equestrian Club and also the new owner of the Polo Stadium? Nestor and I went to pick up a bed for my daughter from one of our sellers late yesterday afternoon in a nearby town, Lake Worth Florida. It is about a 15 minute drive from Wellington Florida depending on where you start from. She is 8 months pregnant and has been on bed rest since she was 4 months pregnant. The bed she has been sleeping on has become very uncomfortable so we were looking for a new bed to put in our guest room as she is going to stay with us through the pregnancy and then for about 8 weeks after her baby is born. We spent yesterday preparing for our Church's Trunk or Treat in our Church Parking Lot in Wellington Florida. Families get together in church parking lots and decorate their trunks with Halloween decorations and bucket of candy. Instead of trick or treating in neighborhoods with small children who run the risk of running out in front of car or being trampled by teenagers on foot you can bring your children to a local TRUNK OR TREAT. For our homeschool activity yesterday I took our 5 year old to choose the decorations for our trunk. So my 5 year old picked out the decorations for our Church Trunk or Treat which was held last night; Saturday night. It is fun to see what items a five year old will pick out. FPL Group Inc. Florida Power and Light, our utility company plans to invest $2.4 Billion dollars in a clean- energy program by improving conservation and increasing Solar Energy production in Florida and maybe some other states. They will be building a 300- megawatt Solar Energy plant in Florida that will cost about $900 Million dollars. The money will be allocated this way: $1.5 Billion over 7 years for solar energy plants $500 Million for technology that will help Florida customers cut down on energy use $400 Million for customer purchases to be channeled to renewable- energy projects. The Village Of Wellington decided to host the March 2008 of the Women’s Lacrosse event. This event had brought Wellington Florida national TV coverage with its producers GKD SportsVision.    The Village council previously had complained about the strain and wear and tear on their fields and staff. GKD Wellington SportsVision will pay $10,000 for the use of the town fields for 6 days. It is about half of what the Village usually charges for an event like this. The for profit organization is taking care of all the bills and is not putting a strain on the Village at all. Over 50% of the horse owners consider their horses pets and do not show them. For those horse owners who do not want to show their horses and want to just enjoy riding them there are riding events held at the Okeeheelee Park in West Palm Beach, Florida.  The AQHA put together their first ride this year. The AQHA sends people to train in Texas. It is similar to 4H but only for horses. The AQHA headquarters is in Amarillo, Texas. They train volunteers to organize horse trail rides all over the United States. Each trail ride raises money for whatever charity they choose to raise money for and 90% of all the proceeds go to that charity of choice. The Sheriff Mounted Police patrol in Wellington Florida and Royal Palm Beach Florida but they also patrol all over Palm Beach County. I brought my 5 year old on our October home school field trip to see the horses and the deputies at the Palm Beach County Mounted Police station in Okeeheelee Park.  There are 4 deputies and 6 police horses. The horses are all there in a working barn. The deputy that gave the tour was telling us that there are Sheriff's who apply for the mounted police because they think they won't have to work hard! That is not the case! You have to be at work at 7:30 a.m. and you since this is a working barn you must clean out the stalls, bathe the horses, train the horses, walk the horses and that is just the beginning of your work. Wellington's Equestrian community produces over 320 tons of manure each year. What to do with all this manure?  Click here to read more about the horse manure issue in Wellington and the restrictions.  Wellington Energy LLC would like to build a plant in Wellington Florida that will burn the manure and turn it into electrical energy and sell it to Florida Power and Light. There is a similar plant to this idea in Pennsylvania. The manure is put in the enclosed plant with 1 Megawatt of power to generate heat. The steam produced by the heat powers a turbine generator which makes the electricity and then they would sell it to FPL.  130 tons of manure can be burned each day which would produce 24 Megawatts of electricity a day.
