Last year several proposals were made to build hospitals in Wesley Chapel.  All three were denied their CON (Certificate of Need) by the State at that time.  This week two new requests were submitted to the Agency for Health Care Administration to build Wesley Chapel hospitals.  Earlier this year Adventist Health Systems and University Community Hospital announced that they would be joining forces to submit one combined proposal to build a Wesley Chapel hospital.  Now, Baycare has combined forces with USF and has submitted a plan to build a Wesley Chapel teaching hospital.  A decision by the state is expected on June 15 2007. 04/19/2007

I was walking around the new Wesley Chapel Regional Park on Saturday taking a few pictures to share on the blog.When they describe this as the "Cadillac of the county parks system", they are not being generous.Special touches and upgrades abound.  Final work is being done and the park should be ready for the public soon.   The 4 tennis courts were constructed by the company who builds tennis facilities for Disney World.The base is 30% deeper than standard for extended life of the facility.The paint is a special synthetic blend which is described as "non-fading".The courts are currently off limits for everyone (even workers) until the surface has been allowed 21 days to cure.    The six soccer fields have been laid with sod.  Some park construction uses grass plugs as a less expensive op... 03/25/2007

Pasco County officials approved a portion of the Shops at Wiregrass, allowing three new buildings and 50,000 square feet.  The remaining portion of the proposed 800,000 square feet of "open air" mall is still pending approval from the county.  Opening of these new retail shops is contingent upon the developer extending S.R. 56 eastward to the eastern portion of The Shops at Wiregrass.  The next scheduled hearing on the Wiregrass development is scheduled for April 10th.  Apparently, the issue of the developer's plan for roads within the planned community remains under scrutiny out of fear of creating a major bottleneck of traffic.Russ Perlowski:  Tampa Real Estate Residential Home Sales 03/19/2007

Meadow Pointe residents will be happy to hear that the extension of S.R. 56 will be six lanes wide and then narrow to four lanes shortly after the Shops at Wiregrass Mall.  Additionally, the widening of Bruce B. Downs will include six lanes north of S.R. 56 and 8 lanes South of S.R. 56 in Pasco County.  The St. Pete Times describes the future intersection of S.R. 56 and  Bruce B.
