So your appraiser screwed you on your latest real estate transaction? What next? Unfortunately, this is not uncommon in the industry, especially now that the housing market is making a comeback. Prices are all over the place and comparables are few and far between. I just lost a sizable deal on a sales contract of $360,000. Unfortunately, the appraiser did not agree and appraised the property at $317,500. Needless to say the contract was cancelled because the buyer did not want to come up and the seller did not want to come down. I call this an impasse. The only resolution? Cancel the contract and move on to someone more realistic and hope for a decent appraisal.
