I have always been amazed by talking bird, but I've never seen a bird that can do math, paint or do card tricks. Pretty interesting.  In just a couple of weeks you can check out some amazing birds at The Plaza Arts Center in Eatonton.   Ticket prices are great at only $10 to $15 and it promises to be entertaining for all ages.  Buy your tickets on line at the plaza's site. I'll be the first to admit that growing up in a small rural town doesn't always give you the best opportunities to see a good show.  Eatonton literally has NO movie theater.  There was one when I was girl and another that had a short lived life when I was a teenager, but all of my adult life not even a movie theater.  And some of local productions with local talent, which enjoyable are not professional quality. Sometime fun is headed to the Plaza Arts Center The venue itself holds a lifetime of memories for my family.  My mom attended grammar school there as did I and even Abigail went to headstart in that very building. I recently wrote a post about an upcoming evening event called "Christmas in the Briarpatch" and someone commented on the name so I thought I would explain why Eatonton is called the Briarpatch. It's an "Uncle Remus" reference.  We have lots of them in town because the author of the "Uncle Remus Tales", Joel Chandler Harris was born in Eatonton. We have Briarpatch Office Products in town, The Farmers and Merchants ATM cards have long been called Tar Baby cards, Uncle Remus library, Uncle Remus Museum, and the Uncle Remus Golf Course just to name a few. Donald and I love to eat at Trophy's Bar & Grill.  It's a business out near the lake and we appreciate not having to drive all the way into town every time we want a burger.  And their Philly Cheese steak is worth any drive it takes to get there.  They are hosting a community meet and greet this Saturday. I can't run into anyone I know without the "how's the market?" question and it's been that way for years. I generally give them a little bit of information, but invite them to Google Lake Sinclair Market report with the last full month's date and they will most likely find my market reports. It's always changing and this month is no exception. Our office is open 7 days a week most of the year, but for a few holidays we close a bit extra to give our agents much needed family time. We will be closed Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for our Thanksgiving celebration with our family and friends. Tonight we went with friends to dinner.  We were trying a place we'd never tried before and frankly it was VERY disappointing. I'm not sure I'll ever give them a second shot because it was very pricey to not be good and the server had a it's just you if you don't love our food kind of attitude.   So we did something different for dessert.  We left and went to Blu Culina fusion bistro to have dessert, cocktails and coffee at a different restaurant.  We were trying to decide what to order off their dessert menu when my friend spoke up and said "just bring us one of everything". At Lake Sinclair we get by with a little help from our friends, Facebook Friends that is. For the past few years I have as part of my social media gotten involved with several community groups. Last Friday in the afternoon I was tagged in a post which of course took me over to look.  There was a "runaway" (actually a float away) boat someone spotted on the lake.  They snapped a photo and uploaded to the community page.     As typical and historically at the end of summer we see a bit of slow down.  Last year that wasn't what happened so not only are we down from last month (18) to just 16 Lake Sinclair home closings for September, we are also down from 20 last year for the same month. Getting the other bad news out of the way you can see that the average Days On the Market were also up again both for the month and over the same period last year. Two were pending after only 11 days on the market, but three were over a year on the market with the longest being 1172 days.  That of course drove the average way up. That home had 4 price adjustments before going under contract. This is my kind of event.  When Donald and I travel we love to take the "haunted" tours.  This one will be the 5th annual such event in Eatonton and it's a great historic look at Pine Grove Cemetery. You get to visit the grave sites of many of Eatonton's luminaries, and live actors will portray the inhabitants and bring the history to life.  Tours will begin at 5:00 p.m. and begin at 30 minute intervals until 8:00 p.m.  Cost is $25.00 and includes a light supper. (barbecue sandwich, chips, coleslaw and a drink) So come out and have a spooktacular time. The tour lasts about one and a half hours.  Make sure to wear some comfortable shoes, you will be walking.
